CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Police Friday raided an illegal South Bay marijuana dispensary and made six arrests.According to the Chula Vista Police Department, officers served a search warrant at 9 a.m. on the black market dispensary at 259 Broadway, acting on community complaints.A half-dozen people were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales, conspiracy to sale marijuana and operating a marijuana dispensary without a license, according to a police statement. (KGTV) — A Chula Vista man says he got a screeching, costly surprise after he started his car Wednesday morning.Along Regency Way, just before 6:30 a.m., Jimmy got into his Toyota Corolla S, which was parked in the street."Started the car. As I was pulling out, felt my car lurch to the side," said Jimmy, who asked us not to use his last name.The lurch came amid the most awful of noises."Pretty much like a crash ... felt the scraping of my rotor on the asphalt ... and then pretty much my car slammed into the asphalt itself. Traumatized and scared of what happened," said Jimmy.His heart sank as he got out and stared at the driver's side wheels, which had fallen off."My lug nuts were completely missing, all ten of them on the left side," said Jimmy.His repair estimate: a staggering ,500. He's insured with a 0 deductible. "Every little cost affects you. It matters," said Jimmy.Jimmy's vehicle was not the only target. Two blocks away the same morning, another driver shared a similar fate because of stolen lug nuts. A member of the HOA board for the nearby condos told 10news that a month ago, there were reports of a car with loosened lug nuts. The motive of the incidents remain unknown. Jimmy doesn't believe he was personally targeted, but he's fearful the thief will be back at it again. "It could have cost my life or another driver's life. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - After hours of listening to public comment, the Chula Vista Planning Commission decided to table and continue an item that would bring a new recreational storage facility to the city's Eastlake area. The proposed facility would store 80 to 100 vehicles, like boats or RVs, on land between Eastlake High School and Antigua, a gated town-home community.Homeowners begged the planning commission to not accept the plans for the facility saying it would be an eyesore for their properties and lower their property values. The property manager of Titan Storage also made his case before the commissioners, citing the need for the facility in a part of town that is growing quickly. RV owners asked the commission to consider accepting the plan because they say surrounding RV lots are full, forcing them to store their vehicles across town. Ultimately, three commissioners said they could not support the plan as presented and voted instead to continue the item to a future date, giving the storage company time to present a revised plan. So far, no date is scheduled for the next public hearing on this issue. 1143

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Four people were displaced when a fire damaged their South Bay home Sunday morning, authorities said.Dispatchers were alerted at about 9:20 a.m. to a fire at a house near the intersection of Madden and Donax avenues, according to the San Diego Police Department. The area is just west of Beyer Boulevard.Firefighters found a small fire in the attic, and were able to get everyone out of the house and extinguish the flames, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. The Red Cross was called to assist with finding shelter for the home's occupants, the Fire-Rescue official said. 662

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- A frightening scene for any family to witness was captured on video just before Valentine’s Day outside an East Chula Vista gas station. A clip posted to Facebook shows a man screaming racial obscenities at a female customer while the woman he’s with calmly pumps gas into their car.The incident reportedly happened at the Shell gas station at the Village Marketplace in the Eastlake neighborhood of Chula Vista at around 4 p.m., according to the victim.In a Facebook video post, the victim wrote that the man had approached her car and began shouting vulgarities then returned to his car. “No there is nothing done prior to this on my part. No there was nothing wrong that I knew of. No, there was no history," the victim wrote in the Facebook video post."No, I've never seen this couple before. No, there were no words exchanged between us, no eye contact, he just began to spew hateful commentary when he saw me get out to pump," the victim said.Sensing that something may happen, the victim used her cellphone to record the encounter, and that's when the man approached her again.The video shows a man with face and arm tattoos jumping out of the passenger seat of a light colored Nissan Versa hatchback. He approaches the victim’s car while flashing both middle fingers and screaming, “F*** n*****s!”The man then walked up to the victim’s vehicle and spit on the windshield.10News is not identifying the victim for her own protection.According to the victim, the couple drove away after the woman finished pumping gas.“I am beyond grateful that he, for some reason, changed his mind and did not spit on me or put his hands on me,” the victim said.The woman called Chula Vista Police about five hours after the confrontation at the gas station, according to Chula Vista Police Department Captain Phil Collum. Officers took information from the woman and followed up with her Friday to gather more information and documentation, Collum said. They will evaluate the evidence to see if it amounts to a criminal offense. Collum said police do not know the identity of the man seen in the video. “This is highly unusual,” said Collum.
