LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former business manager of Stan Lee has been arrested on elder abuse charges involving the late comic book legend.Los Angeles police say Keya Morgan was taken into custody in Arizona early Saturday on an outstanding arrest warrant.Morgan was charged earlier this month with felony allegations of theft, embezzlement, forgery or fraud against an elder adult, and false imprisonment of an elder adult.Authorities say Morgan sought to manipulate and exert control over Lee even though he didn't have authority to act on Lee's behalf.Lee died in November at the age of 95.Attorney Alex Kessel has said Morgan has never abused or taken advantage of Lee. An email was sent Saturday to Morgan's attorneys.Bail has been set for 0,000. Morgan will eventually be extradited to Los Angeles. 811

Lorenza Marrujo is 67 years old and less than five feet tall — but she's no weakling.An intruder recently confronted Marrujo at her seniors apartment complex in Fontana, California. Not only did she protect herself, but her neighbors, too."As he was coming towards me, I said, 'back off.' Right away," Marrujo said.Marrujo has 26 years of martial arts training, so when she told the intruder to back off, he listened. Unfortunately, he made his way to the apartment of 81-year-old Elizabeth McCray — Marrujo's neighbor."He grabbed me and shook me, and I went down on the floor," McCray said.Marrujo heard McCray's screams and went to help."I squeezed myself between her and him. I put mama on the side, and I jumped on him, and I was punching him and everything," Marrujo said. "And I had the cane against his throat."Marrujo said she didn't want to kill him, so she held him down with her hands."He lifted up and tried to twist my hand. At the same time, I twisted his and turned it around real fast," Marrujo said. "And he was saying, 'you're hurting me, you're hurting me.' And I said, 'I don't care. I don't care what happens to you. You had no right to hurt an elderly person.'"McCray was stunned by her neighbor's bravery."I didn't expect that little lady would be that brave," she said. "I was trembling. I grabbed her by the leg. I said, 'could you be careful; you're gonna kill us.' She said, 'not tonight.'"Police later arrived on the scene and took the intruder into custody. Despite Marrujo's bravery, police say it's not a good idea to attack an intruder."We don't recommend you just jumping in," said Jennie Venzor, a spokesperson for the Fontana Police Department. "We recommend that you dial 911 for emergency assistance, which, in this case, she did that, and she also jumped in. What she told me is that her training kicked in, and it was like a muscle memory. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A homeless man is facing a murder charge in what authorities say was a random attack on a California father, who was stabbed in the neck as his 5-year-old daughter sat on his lap in a crowded beachside steakhouse.Jamal Jackson, 49, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Anthony Mele. He was being held in Ventura County jail on a .5 million bail. It was unclear Saturday if he had an attorney to speak on his behalf.Mele and his wife were eating dinner with their daughter Wednesday at Aloha Steakhouse in Ventura. The girl was sitting on her father's lap when prosecutors say Jackson walked up and stabbed Mele in the neck.Prosecutor Richard Simon said patrons and a restaurant employee followed Jackson out of the restaurant, even though he still had the knife. They kept track of him until police arrived and arrested him.Mele was taken to a hospital and died Thursday after being taken off life support."It's horrible," Simon said. "You're not supposed to die that way."Mele's loved ones started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for a funeral and to support his wife and daughter.Mele's Facebook page was filled with photos of his daughter and said he was a manager at an AT&T store.Police confirmed Saturday that a bystander reported a man who turned out to be Jackson for disruptive behavior several hours before the stabbing.According to the bystander, a man was yelling on the promenade not far from the restaurant about three hours before the attack.Patrol officers were out on other calls so command center staff monitored the man — who turned out to be Jackson — via a pier security camera system for more than 20 minutes before determining he didn't seem to be a threat, police said.Police are asking anyone who spoke with Jackson during that time to contact investigators.The killing prompted the Ventura City Council to increase police patrols in the area and add staff members to monitor security cameras, among other measures."We are extremely disheartened and infuriated by this criminal attack," Mayor Neal Andrews said in a statement. "We will not tolerate this in our community. Nothing is more important than the safety of our visitors, residents and businesses."If convicted, Jackson faces up to 55 years in prison.
