BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China will join hands with Africa to promote bilateral cooperation to better benefit the two peoples, top political advisor Wang Yang said here on Tuesday.

Xi said that over a long period, gender equality and respect for women have been better recognized but discrimination against women still exists.

At present, China's economy remains generally stable and is making good progress, Xi said, citing data including the GDP growth of 6.7 percent in the first three quarters of 2018.

The basic economic system of retaining a dominant position for the public sector and developing diverse forms of ownership side by side is an important part of the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and crucial for improving the socialist market economy, Xi said.

The People's Bank of China, China's central bank, has cut the required reserve ratio for commercial banks four times this year, releasing a total liquidity of 2.3 trillion yuan. By the end of September, outstanding loans for micro and small firms totaled over 33 trillion yuan, up by 11.4 percent year on year.
