SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — There have been 137 community outbreaks reported in San Diego County since June 1, according to San Diego County health officials.Since March 25, the county has reported 164 community outbreaks that have resulted in 1,220 coronavirus cases:March: 3April: 16May: 8June: 34July: 93August: 10County officials broke those numbers down from June 1, 2020, to Aug. 4, 2020, where the majority of community outbreaks have been reported at restaurant/bar and business settings. See the data below:The county adds that community outbreaks between June and August from business, restaurant, and restaurant/bar settings have resulted in a total of 212 cases in June, 508 cases in July, and 48 cases in August.On Wednesday, the county reported 30 community outbreaks, much high than the county's trigger of seven in a week.Even though a restaurant or restaurant/bar is linked to a community outbreak, County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten says that doesn't mean a business is failing to adhere to public health orders.RELATED: San Diego County Board approves plan to allow businesses to operate at county parks"It may not mean there's anything going on wrong at the restaurant or at the restaurant/bar," Wooten said. "Most of our outbreaks we do deploy an assessment team and if they are restaurants, the Department of Environmental Health has taken that role until, as of Tuesday, when that will now be under the (county) compliance program."Wooten said investigators visit a reported business and make sure they are adhering to signage, social distancing, face covering, and sanitation measures.The county has said in the past it doesn't name locations where a community outbreak was traced to in order to encourage businesses to cooperate with COVID-19 case contact tracers. 1799

The county put out a notice Wednesday noting it’s “in dire need of 1,000 workers for the March 3rd Election.”According to the ROV, workers can receive up to 5, depending on their position and placement. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The U.S. Navy’s surgeon General is back home in San Diego talking about military healthcare reform.10News caught up with Vice Admiral Forrest Faison at after he spoke at the San Diego Military Advisory Council Breakfast in Point Loma.“We are changing how we do healthcare in the Navy to be one of the providers of choice,” he said. “Despite all the changes going on in military medicine right now, what will not change ever is our commitment to those we are privileged to serve.”Faison said there’s no greater responsibility than providing medical forces that are ready, prepared and present to save the lives of the nation’s armed forces.He said Naval Medical Center San Diego plays a big role when it comes to providing that training.Congress recently directed the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to take over the Military Health System (MHS). Meaning, all military medical centers across the national will soon be managed by DHA.Faison says this will be a smooth and transparent transition, and military families won’t be getting a big surprise.The Naval Hospital in Jacksonville transitioned from MHS to DHA last October, hospitals on the east coast are going through it now, and the west coast, including San Diego, is next.Faison said when it comes to military families having to switch healthcare providers so often, or wait a long time for appointments and referrals, the DHA is actively working to minimize changes and alleviate wait times.“The defense health agency is responsible for managing the Tricare network to ensure there are sufficient providers to be able to meet the needs and monitor access and wait times, so we rely very heavily on them to do that,” said Faison. “I know they’re working very closely with the Tricare contractors to be able to do that in all the different locations where we have service members and their families and we ask them to be stationed to do our nation’s business.”The transition in San Diego is expected to happen no later than October 2020. 2016

According to a new 10News/Union-Tribune scientific poll released Tuesday evening, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has moved into the lead with 25%. In another shakeup, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomerg surged into second place at 21%.Former Vice President had been the leader in each 10News/Union-Tribune poll taken this election cycle until this latest result. In the new poll, Biden fell to third place at 15%, with former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 12%.
