Samuel and Ronan Peterson will have an interesting story to tell for the rest of their lives, thanks to Daylight Saving Time.The infant twins — born overnight on Nov. 6, 2016 — have a strange twist to their ages because of the time change.According to Cape Cod Healthcare in Massachusetts, Ronan is the older twin despite being born 31 minutes after Samuel.How does that work?According to hospital officials, Samuel was born at 1:39 a.m. Eastern and when his twin Ronan was born 31 minutes later, the clock had reset to 1:10 a.m., instead of being 2:10 a.m., because Daylight Saving Time had come to an end.So, despite technically being 31 minutes younger, Ronan's official time of birth is listed as 29 minutes earlier than Samuel's.One of the hospital's maternity nurses, who has 40 years on the job, said she'd never seen anything like it.Seth Peterson, the boys' father, figured something strange was going to happen due to his wife Emily giving birth on the night of Daylight Saving Time's end."I said earlier that night that they were either going to be born on two different days or the time change was going to come into play," he said, according to Cape Cod Healthcare.Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National Desk. SAN DIEGO  – The affidavit accusing San Diego County Congressman Duncan Hunter and his wife, Margaret, of prohibited use of campaign contributions provides shocking details about how the couple allegedly spent the money and covered it up.The grand jury's indictment accused Hunter and his wife of misusing campaign funds on everything from vacations to tequila shots at a restaurant.The affidavit says the Hunters made purchases with campaign funds including more than ,000 for a family trip to Italy, more than ,300 for purchases at Costco, and more than ,000 for airline tickets and hotel rooms for their family and friends.Numerous alleged charges also cover amounts in the hundreds at grocery and retail stores and restaurants, including one charge in 2015 at Disneyland totaling 9.44 for Minnie Mouse Ear headbands and apparel, and another in 2016 for "30 tequila shots and one steak" totaling 2.46 at a restaurant. 983

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 29-year-old patron of seafood restaurant in Mira Mesa is grateful for his wallet Friday evening as it stopped a bullet fired from a passing vehicle.The shooting happened about 9:10 p.m. at the Crab Hut restaurant, 8280 Mira Mesa Blvd., according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.Several rounds were fired and one of the bullets struck the man in the buttocks area, but his wallet stopped the bullet and he was not injured, Heims said.A description of the suspects or suspect vehicle was not immediately available. 567

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A federal judge has extended a freeze on deporting families separated at the U.S.-Mexico border, giving a reprieve to hundreds of children and their parents to remain in the United States.U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw said in his order Thursday that "hasty" deportation of children after reunification with their parents would deprive them of their right to seek asylum.The American Civil Liberties Union had requested families be given at least a week. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGTV) — California’s Senate has approved a measure to increase the scrutiny of hunting licenses used in gun sales, prompted by last year’s fatal shooting at a Poway synagogue. Senate Bill 914, introduced by Democratic Sen. Anthony Portantino, would require gun stores and the state Department of Justice to both check the validity of hunting licenses during a waiting period after gun buyers purchase a weapon and before they pick it up.
