Sixty-four spellers will not be moving onto the final preliminary competition. (KGTV) — A Los Angeles-area police pursuit ended late Tuesday with a suspect breakdancing as officers held him a gunpoint before being arrested.The chase took California Highway Patrol officers through the San Fernando Valley after the suspect failed to yield to commands to stop, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Officers pursued the suspect over the 101 Freeway, north on the 405 Freeway, and then east onto the 118 Freeway.As the driver slowed in the Pacoima area, officers were able to enact a PIT maneuver and spin the suspect's vehicle out.The driver exited the vehicle and began walking backward toward CHP officers. But before turning himself over, he stopped and began breakdancing in the street, as officers kept their firearms trained on the man.After a short dance, the man surrendered to police without incident. 832
(KGTV) - Did NYPD use a picture of actor Woody Harrelson to catch a thief using facial recognition software?Yes.The actual security footage of a beer thief was too pixelated and produced no match in the department's facial recognition software. But since he looked like Woody Harrelson, they put a photo of the actor into the database. It produced several matches and led to an arrest.The NYPD says it never arrests someone on facial recognition alone. 462
(KGTV) - An El Camino High School teacher is working to end child hunger, starting in her own classroom. Kathy Easterbook started a food pantry for her students. Nearly half of the teens at the school qualify for free lunch. Thanks to Easterbook, students can drop by every week to collect what they need.
