After having trouble conceiving on their own, a white couple opted for in-vitro fertilization and gave birth to a baby girl. When their daughter was a toddler, they grew concerned that she didn't look like them."When she was born, all my friends said, 'Oh, she looks Asian, she looks Asian,'" said Kristina Koedderich, the girl's mother. "We were cracking the jokes... but you just figure every baby, like, looks different when they're born."For nearly four years, Koedderich and her now ex-husband Drew Wasilewski have been wondering who is their daughter's biological father.Koedderich gave birth to her daughter in 2013. When the girl was about 2 years old, the mother said she noticed her daughter's features were different than hers. Then, strangers also began asking whether they had adopted her.A DNA test in 2015 confirmed that Wasilewski was not related to the girl, the lawsuit says.After getting the DNA results, the New Jersey parents said they called the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science at St. Barnabas looking for answers, but they said staff members only apologized and told them they couldn't confirm that something went wrong.Koedderich and Wasilewski filed a lawsuit accusing the Livingston, New Jersey-based fertility clinic as well as several of its employees of failing to maintain a proper chain of custody of semen samples and impregnating Koedderich with the sperm of a man who was not her husband.The defendants in the case have suggested that an extramarital affair led to the birth of the girl, according to a court order compelling the defense to produce records.Dr. John Garrisi, the director of embryology laboratory at the clinic, said in a deposition conducted in March that the procedure was done correctly."Mr. Wasilewski's sperm was used for the insemination of Mrs. Wasilewski's (Koedderich) eggs." Garrisi said in the deposition.Ronn Torossian, a spokesman for the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science, told CNN the clinic does not comment on individual patient matters but said they are taking the case "very seriously.""We are an organization comprised of passionate, dedicated medical professionals whose singular mission is to help our patients build their families," Torossian said in a statement. "The integrity of our treatment processes are paramount and we are taking this matter very seriously. A teacher’s aide at a Parma, Ohio, school is taking time during the holidays to give free haircuts to students during study hall.Nerjes Taweel, 21, is a licensed cosmetologist and instructional aide at Summit Academy, now combining her two passions to help out students as they head off on break. “I enjoy it because you get to see their reaction after you do the transformation,” Taweel said. “It just makes you feel good when they feel good.”Taweel works out of a school conference room converted into a pop-up salon, complete with clippers, capes, scissors and hairstyling essentials. ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — At least seven people were killed and several others injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 75 near Gainesville on Thursday.According to Alachua County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred at 3:42 p.m. on I-75 near mile marker 393 north of Northwest 39th Avenue. Florida Highway Patrol says that the crash involved two tractor-trailers, a passenger van and a mid-size four-door sedan. The two tractor-trailers were close together and caught on fire. The passenger van was also involved in the fire.Six fatalities were initially reported on scene, one additional fatality was reported by 8 p.m. Thursday. Additionally, at least seven patients were transported to area hospitals from the scene, multiple patients with critical injuries. The fire was put out around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials say that 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result of the crash.ACFR's UAV team and ASO's AIR 1 helicopter responded to the scene to help with locating possible patients that may have been ejected during the crash. Southbound I-75 was shut down in the area for extensive periods on Thursday, and could remained closed through the morning commute on Friday. There is a significant amount of damage to the road due to the fire. The road will be closed for several more hours. All northbound lanes of I-75 reopened at 8 p.m. Thursday.The UF Health emergency response mass casualty plan was activated at approximately 4:25 p.m. due to the accident.
