(KGTV) — One person was injured after a confrontation following a South Bay party ended in gunfire.San Diego Police said a 38-year-old man had attended a party on Beyer Blvd. in Otay Mesa West before confronting an "old acquaintance" in a parking lot just before 6 a.m.The two got into an argument and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man in the legs, police said.The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.Police only described the suspect as a 26-year-old Hispanic man.Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000 or 858-484-3154, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 643

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Loved ones are mourning the COVID-related death of an Oceanside grandfather who worked security on the Sprinter train.Matthys Kemp, 67, first became sick around mid-September."A cough and fever. Just thought he was coming down with a bug," said daughter Rinali HillNot long after, his symptoms got worse. Hill says on September 20th, he ended up in the ER."They admitted him. He had double pneumonia and COVID," said Hill.After two weeks on oxygen, Kemp was placed on a ventilator and sedated. He developed a blood clot in his leg and kidney issues.On November 1, Kemp, a father of two and grandfather of three, passed away."Just glad he's not in pain anymore," said a tearful Hill.Hill says her father was kind, generous and well-liked."He definitely had a huge smile and huge heart for everybody," said Hill.Hill says Kemp worked with the North County Transit District for the past decade, including the last five years for the contractor that provides security on the Sprinter train."He loved his job. Felt like he had a purpose, showing up every day in his vest. Felt like it was his Superman cape. Took pride in getting people to their destinations," said Hill.Hill isn't sure where her father contracted the virus, but says he was diligent about wearing a mask at work.His long-held wish, known to his family for years, was to have his body donated to science. Hill says when she reached out to local research facilities, they say it wouldn't be possible because of his COVID-19 diagnosis."That’s what he wanted and unfortunately we couldn’t do that for him," said Hill.Hill is now sharing her father's story, urging others to take precautions."Please wear a mask ... This virus can leave behind a family that can’t say goodbye in person, couldn't get hold their hand. OKALOOSA ISLAND, Fla. — A car rolled into a Florida swimming pool on Tuesday with a father and daughter inside.According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the mother thought she put the car in park when she ran back into the apartment to grab money."Apparently, it didn't go all the way into park," OCSO said.Her husband and daughter were in the car when it went into the pool at their Okaloosa Island apartment. Officials in North Carolina now say that seven people have been killed in flash floods prompted by Tropical Storm Eta.The Charlotte Observer reports that four people were killed in Alexander County, located about an hour north of Charlotte. There, at a local campground, three bodies were recovered and another 31 people were rescued. As of Thursday afternoon, an adult and a child were still missing from the campsite.Elsewhere in Alexander County, another person died when floodwaters caused a bridge to collapse. It was one of four bridges in the country that were swept away by floods, and one of the collapses was captured live by a local TV news channel.The Observer reports that two other deaths were recorded in Iredell County when floodwaters caused a pickup truck to hydroplane and collided with an oncoming car.The New York Times reports that the seventh fatality occurred in Wake County — near Raleigh — where witnesses say a child who had been playing near a creek drowned in a flash flood.According to The Weather Channel, the Charlotte area received seven inches of rain on Thursday, causing creeks and rivers to overflow quickly. Five counties in North Carolina declared states of emergency.The National Hurricane Center reports that Eta, now a post-tropical cyclone, is currently located just offshore of the Carolinas. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - North San Diego County police are searching for a documented gang member they say killed a man outside his home in 2016.Edgar Hernandez Saavedra, 29, was named as the suspect of Miguel Luis Castillo's murder on August 20, 2016, Oceanside Police said.Saavedra was arguing with Castillo outside the man's home in the 800 block of Langford St. at about 2:40 a.m. Police said the argument escalated and Saavedra shot and killed Castillo with a semi-automatic handgun.ORIGINAL REPORT: Man shot, killed in Oceanside; Suspect at largeSince then, Saavedra's whereabouts have been unknown.Police describe Saavedra as a Hispanic male, with brown hair and brown eyes, standing about 5-foot 6-inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. He is a documented gang member and is also known as "Little Edgar" and "Smalls."Saavedra is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
