(KGTV) - An art gallery in Solana Beach is taking drastic measures to try and survive the coronavirus pandemic.Exclusive Collections is holding it's first ever sale on fine art, offering paintings and more for as much as 50% off."You know art doesn't really go on sale," says owner Ruth-Ann Thorn. "But here we are in this time where you have to do what you have to do to keep the doors open."Thorn has been collecting art for 25 years, often buying pieces from artists who hold shows in her gallery. While her shop was closed during the Pademic, she made the difficult decision to go through her warehouse and see what she could sell."I got very emotional, and I almost broke down," Thorn says. "We needed to make some very serious decisions on how we're going to keep the doors open. And it requires a sacrifice to let go of these things."Thorn says her sale offers even non-collectors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase an investment piece. She's hopeful she'll sell enough to make ends meet until business picks back up."If you've never bought art before you're gonna get you know the deal of a century," she says.Exclusive Collections gallery is open from noon to 5 pm every day. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — If you tried to go to the Chuck E. Cheese with your children in St. Petersburg, Florida last Friday, July 27, you would have found the popular kid's place closed.Inspectors found more than 130 rodent droppings all over the kitchen inside the restaurant.Rodent activity was evident after finding dozens of droppings near racks of food, the chest freezer, pizza oven, deli table, drink station, dishwashing area, water heater, hallways, and dry storage room, the state documented.Inspectors also found rodent rub marks and six holes in the walls and ceilings including near the front counter area and toy storage room. All holes were about four to six inches in diameter which might be how the rodents were getting inside the restaurant.Among the 29 other violations recorded in two days, the state found dead roaches and accumulation of food debris/grease on pizza pans, interior of the keg cooler, on the self-serve drink station, behind the ice chute and soda nozzle areas and iced tea dispenser spigots. There was also no certified food service manager on duty. Chuck E. Cheese's restroom toilets were also not working properly, according to the state, with three toilets out of service in both the boys and girls restrooms.  1303

(AP) -- Health officials have confirmed a case of plague at South Lake Tahoe -- the first in California in five years.El Dorado County officials said Monday the California Department of Public Health notified them of the positive test of a local resident who is under medical care while recovering at home.Plague bacteria are most often transmitted by fleas that have acquired it from infected squirrels, chipmunks and other wild rodents.Health officials believe the South Tahoe resident may have been bitten by an infected flea while walking a dog along the Truckee River corridor or in the Tahoe Keys area on Tahoe's south shore. 664

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Surveillance video captured intruders surprised by an alarm during a burglary in Spring Valley Wednesday night.The break-in unfolded in Eva Bradley's home off Paradise Valley Road while she was at work. "I'm sad, upset and angry." said Bradley.Just before 11 p.m., a guest bedroom window was forced open. A surveillance camera was rolling in the bedroom of Bradley's 8-year-old son, who was not home. "Scary, scary. Just glad we weren't home. Such as violation," said Bradley.In the video, a person is seen shining a flashlight in the dark. He leaves and another intruder, wearing a hoodie, enter the room and opens a drawer. Moments later, the camera is struck and falls over. Soon after in the living room, the burglar with the flashlight - now toting a bag - is sneaking through the room before he triggers the motion sensor and the alarm. He and another figure then run out of the room.The break-in was cut short, but the thieves made off with iPads and jewelry, including a gold and diamond-shaped ruby ring which Bradley's grandmother wore every day before she died."I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before she passed away ... It's the only physical thing I have to remember her by," said Bradley. Bradley is likely not the only victim. A short time later, a person resembling the thief with the hoodie was recorded in the same area, ringing a doorbell and likely looking for another target. SORRENTO VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A Marine veteran suffered major injuries after a wrong-way driver crashed into him on I-5 early Saturday morning.Friends have identified the victim as Luis Maldonado. He was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. His service dog Jax, who was also in the car, was taken to an animal hospital and is expected to survive.The wrong-way driver died at the scene. California Highway Patrol suspects he was under the influence of alcohol. He has not been identified.Maldonado's friends have set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the mounting medical costs.  622
