Some might surprise you!KTNV in Las Vegas obtained a year's worth of data from Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson police departments to track the top locations. Data show police are responding to many of the same places every day, several times a day. As expected, some of the biggest Las Vegas Strip properties with the most traffic generate the most calls to police. The Strip is in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction.New to the top 10 in 2,018, at number 10, is the Wynn Las Vegas with 1,064 calls. That's up from 930 calls in 2,017.Fashion Show mall moved into the top ten also, racking up 1,125 in 2018. That means LVMPD responded on average three times a day, every single day. Click each location for ranking and number of service callsThe 5th location with the most calls is Planet Hollywood at 1,312. In 4th place with 1,567, The Cosmopolitan. The 3rd location is the Bellagio with 1,646 calls. Topped by Caesars Palace in 2nd place at 2,094.And sitting at number one for the second year in a row is MGM Grand with 2,492 calls for service in 2018.While the Wynn and Fashion Show mall are new to the Hot Spots list, the Flamingo hotel and Cromwell casino dropped out of the Top 10 for locations on the Strip. Three high school students in Martin County are recovering after investigators say they overdosed at two schools Tuesday and had to be hospitalized.The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the students smoked THC vape pens that were laced with an unknown substance, possibly a narcotic.Now, investigators hope to determine how the students got their hands on the laced vape pens in the first place, whether they created the concoction themselves, or if they obtained the pens from a mutual source.Martin County Schools Superintendent Laurie Gaylord called parents Tuesday afternoon to warn them of the discovery of students using vape pens on school campuses. The message said in part, "The sheriff’s office believes there is a likelihood that more students may come to be in possession of the pens and may inhale or ingest the toxins in the future.”Just after noon on Tuesday, Lt. Ryan Grimsdale said deputies were notified that a female student at South Fork High School was having a medical emergency.“It was relayed to us that they were having a seizure," Grimsdale said.Within a couple hours of that call, Grimsdale said a female and a male student at Martin County High School also had medical issues, not as severe as the one reported at South Fork High School, but at least one of the students was also going in and out of consciousness.“The symptoms were similar, but not as severe. Upset stomach and things of that nature.”Grimsdale said this is the first time he has heard of the laced vape pens making their way into local schools.He says the issue as a whole of vape pens being used to ingest harmful or illegal substances is becoming a statewide issue.“What we’re looking at now actually statewide is an epidemic where these have become the primary method for consumption of illegal substances,” Grimsdale said. Miami is seeing the worst of it, according to Grimsdale.Martin County High School parent Deborah Pelletier was concerned after getting the call from the school.“We have to look out for each other. These are not good times,” said Pelletier.She said she will be taking the advice provided by the school.“We’re going to discuss it with my granddaughter here, I am also her guardian, and I’m not quite sure what to make of it yet.”Grimsdale also offers the following advice to parents: "Be involved. Pay attention. These vape pens, if you don’t know what they are look them up. Know what they look like and what to look for. Go through their book bags, look through their rooms to be actively involved, educated and informed. Pay attention.”"Kids are supposed to go to school and sitting in classrooms being educated and getting yelled at for running down the hallway. They’re not supposed to be getting transported out by ambulance because of a drug overdose,” Grimsdale said.The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said about 100 citations have been written for students who have brought vape pens to school this school year. THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A grand jury in North Carolina indicted three people after police said a mother traded her 2-year-old child to another couple in exchange for a car.Alice Leann Todd, Tina Marie Chavis and Vicencio Mendoza Romero were arrested Wednesday.An investigation was opened when Chavis brought the then-2-year-old to Wake Forest Baptist Health's High Point Medical Center back in July because she thought the child was having an allergic reaction, Thomasville police said. Hospital staff contacted the police and child protective services after noticing bruises on the child.Chavis, 47, claimed to be the child's biological mother, later changing her story and saying she was the child's adoptive mother, but couldn't produce any documentation, police said. The child was placed in the care of another family member and the mother, Todd, was located.Investigators said they were able to determine that Chavis and Romero had traded their car for Todd's child in 2018. The three have been charged with the unlawful sale, surrender or purchase of a minor and are currently being held on ,000 bonds at the Davidson County Jail. 1149
