However, if you can spill it, spread it, spray it, pump it or pour it, and it’s larger than 3.4 ounces, then it should go in a checked bag,” the TSA recommends as general guidance.Things that can be carried on the plane, and brought through TSA screening, include baked goods (homemade or store bought), meat (cooked or uncooked), casseroles, vegetables, candy and spices.Foods that should be packed safely in your checked bag include cranberry sauce, gravy (homemade or in a can/jar), wine or champagne, and jams or jellies.If you have questions about specific items, the TSA has a website to check, called “what can I bring.” 1209

If you thought the presidential candidates had plenty of time to convince voters, think again. The swing state of North Carolina is set to start mailing out absentee ballots on Friday, September 4. That means voters will be able to return their ballots as early as next week. RECORD NUMBERS VOTING EARLYNorth Carolina is seeing a record number of absentee ballots because of the pandemic. In 2016. around 200,000 absentee ballots were counted. Already in 2020, the state has received around 600,000 requests. "It’s been kinda tough but we are trying to get through it," Kristen Scott, the elections director in Halifax, North Carolina, said. Scott only has a staff of three. In 2016, her staff received 200 absentee ballot requests. This year they have already received 2,000 and it's only early September. "I do go ahead and tell voters once you get your ballot, it's best to complete it and send it back in," Scott said. NORTH CAROLINA TEST CASEWhat happens next in North Carolina will be an example for other states around the country. Will voters return their ballot right away? Will they wait until the first debate? Additionally, will voters be able to follow all of the directions?For instance, in North Carolina, all absentee ballots must have a valid witness signature. During a pandemic will voters be able to find a witness? If it's not there, the ballot will be rejected. "In the primary, we saw about 15 percent of absentee ballots rejected," Allison Griggs with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, said. Griggs fears the election could depend on whether voters follow directions or not. In North Carolina, election officials are allowed to contact voters if they find an error with their ballot prior to the polls closing. Griggs advises all Americans to be on the lookout for phone calls from election officials just in case. HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A crowd estimated at 400 people gathered in front of the Huntington Beach pier to protest the first night of a statewide curfew aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19, authorities said Sunday.The people gathered at 10 p.m. Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, crossing the highway when allowed by the traffic light, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Ryan Reilly.By 11:30 p.m., the crowd appeared about half that size, said Reilly, who was watching the gathering via surveillance cameras.The protest ended shortly after midnight, he said.The group was law-abiding "for the most part," Reilly said. One person was arrested for public intoxication. "Some, not all" wore face masks.It appeared the vehicles passing through the area were part of the demonstration and the same vehicles were seen moving north and south on PCH, Reilly said.Officers were there watching the activity but no illegal assembly was declared, he said.Sergeants posted in the Main Street area reported that all of the bars, restaurants and other businesses closed by 10 p.m., Reilly said.The department did not issue citations for curfew violations, he said. House Speaker Paul Ryan found out that he is part Jewish as part of the upcoming season of PBS' show "Finding Your Roots."The show's host, Henry Louis Gates Jr., shared the Wisconsin Republican's reaction to discovering his roots during a panel on Tuesday."You could have knocked him over with a feather and then he was very proud of it," Gates, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, said during the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles.A publicist for the show confirmed Gates' comments during the panel, and Ryan's upcoming appearance on the show, in an email to CNN."We don't know who that Jewish person was, but we know it was on his mother's German line, which makes sense," Gates continued.
