SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A construction worker was hit by a car and killed Wednesday morning on state Route 94 in Spring Valley.The crash was reported shortly after 12:10 a.m. on eastbound SR-94 near Avocado Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.ABC 10News learned the victim was a worker for Granite Construction, and he was working alongside other construction workers when he was struck.Cones had been set down on the roadway, allowing traffic to pass on the left while work was being conducted on the right side. However, some workers told ABC 10News a car traveling on the wrong side of the cones struck their co-worker.Witnesses said the victim was dragged about 40 feet before the car, a 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage, stopped.The 41-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's 24-year-old female driver remained at the scene for CHP questioning.The crash remains under investigation. The CHP said, "At this time, alcohol and or drugs are not believed to have played a factor in this collision."No other injuries were reported. 1073

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell believes the allegations against Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore and that Moore should leave the race, the Kentucky Republican said Monday."I believe the women, yes," McConnell told reporters in Kentucky.McConnell, the Senate's top Republican and a frequent target of Moore on the campaign trail, said, "I think he should step aside."Last week, The Washington Post published a bombshell report based on interviews with more than 30 people, saying Moore pursued relationships with teenage women while he was in his 30s. One woman said she was 14 years old when Moore initiated sexual contact with her.Moore has denied the allegations, and on Sunday night, he claimed he would sue the Post.The report increased pressure on Republicans to disavow Moore, who was already controversial due in part to his history of racially-charged and homophobic commentary.In the immediate wake of the story, some Republicans, like Arizona Sen. John McCain, said the report was enough for them to call for Moore to drop out of the race. Many Republicans, like McConnell, said Moore should step aside from the race if the allegations are true. September Buys, a teacher in Michigan, says she doesn't really like garage sales, and that should tell you just how far she will go to help her students this year.Buys, an art teacher at Crossroads Middle School in Grand Rapids, said she was feeling helpless about all the uncertainty surrounding the school year-- and decided to channel her frustration into cleaning."I just started cleaning out my closet, because that felt better, just to let some things go," she said. "I made a pile, and then I moved onto the girls’ closet, and then I moved onto the toy room, and just this pile grew and grew and grew.”The idea came to her to hold a garage sale to give away the items. She also reached out to the community on Facebook, asking if others had items they wanted to contribute as well.Instead of selling what's been collected, Buys asked people to donate art supplies or purchase items off the Amazon wishlist she created to help her students.“I think it’s really, really important for people to connect with each other and be kind to each other and if you have something extra, why not share it? Things are things… I think what’s more important for me right now is to make sure that my students are cared for and that they have the things they need to feel like they can express what’s going on, they can kind of get some of that stuff out, and the more materials and stuff I have for my students, the better.”Buys plans to take all the art supplies to create individual 'art kits' for her students."We always need help with purchasing supplies – but this year especially, whether the kids are at home or whether they’re in person, they’re not going to be able to share supplies in the same way. I can’t take one package of pencils and put it in the middle of the table for kids to share anymore. SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Video captured Friday showed another bluff failure in the Solana Beach area, weeks after a series of small bluff collapses.Kelly Nelle captured a small bluff failure at a site that appeared taped off due to a previous bluff collapse. No one was injured.Several parts of Fletcher Cove were taped off in August as sandstone tumbled about 75 feet down to the beach. It isn't clear if Friday's collapse was at the same site, but the area was already taped off and appeared to have a pile of sediment at the base of the cliff side.In late August, Torrey Pines beach goers were warned of bluff collapses after a section fell to the ground. In early August, a massive section of rock fell in Encinitas, killing three people.As temperatures rise and bring more locals out to the coast, officials cautioned visitors to walk 25 - 40 feet away from all bluffs and not to walk around barricades because large rocks could still fall.Video from Friday showed some smaller rocks falling before the larger section fell onto the Solana Beach spot. 1068
