GARY, Indiana — An Indiana family is upset after their son was given a "Most Annoying" award at school. Eleven-year-old Akalis Castejon is autistic and non-verbal and works with special education teachers at Bailey Preparatory Academy in Gary, Indiana. Because he is non-verbal, he will often rock back and forth as he struggles to express himself. At the end-of-the-year lunch, his parents were shocked when a teacher handed the fifth-grader an award trophy labeled "Most Annoying Male." Other awards that were given out at the event had much more positive connotations, such as "Best Student" and "Most Improved."The boy's father, Rick Castejon, says he's grateful his son did not understand what was going on but wants an apology from the teacher. "When they called him up, he was just excited to get a gold star because it was shiny," Castejon said. The Gary Community School Corporation released a statement saying they do not condone this type of behavior and will continue to put the well-being of their students first. 1039

Facebook says it has removed nearly 200 social media accounts linked to white supremacy groups planning to rally members to show up at protests over police killings of black people - in some cases with weapons. The Facebook and Instagram users were associated with the Proud Boys and American Guard, two racist groups already banned on Facebook. Facebook officials said Friday the platform was already planning to remove the accounts for violating its ban on hate groups but decided to act when the groups attempted to exploit the protests prompted by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.  611

For the 10th straight week, weekly initial claims for unemployment have totaled in the millions. On Thursday, the Department of Labor reported that 2.1 million people filed initial claims for unemployment for the week ending May 23. In the last 10 weeks, 40 million Americans have filed claims for unemployment.Thursday's report marked the eighth straight week in declining unemployment figures, but unemployment claims remain historically high. Prior to the pandemic, the record high for weekly unemployment claims came in 2006, when 665,000 people filed for unemployment. The Department of Labor has been tracking the statistics since 1967.While economists often use weekly unemployment figures to gauge how many Americans lost their jobs, surveys suggest that these figures are underestimating the true number of Americans who have lost their jobs in the pandemic. 879

Hong Kong's international airport -- one of the busiest in Asia -- had emerged as a key protest target before today's mass gathering, as anti-government demonstrators looked to take their message directly to the international community. At the airport over the weekend, leaflets in Chinese, English, French, Korean, Japanese and other languages were handed out to arriving international visitors, explaining the causes of the unrest -- as protesters see it -- and the demands of the opposition movement.Showcasing the 528
