BEIJING, Sep. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward four proposals for improving ties with Central Africa when meeting with his counterpart Francois Bozize Yangouvonda Thursday.     "China attaches great importance to the friendship with Central Africa, and we are willing to work with Central Africa to create a new era for our bilateral ties." Hu stressed.     Hu made four proposals for the enhancement of bilateral ties during the meeting.     First, Hu said, the two countries should cement the political foundation of bilateral ties and strengthen communication and coordination on major issues and important affairs. China is willing to strengthen economic, trade and technical cooperation with Central Africa to benefit both sides and develop jointly, Hu said.     Hu stressed personnel and cultural exchanges and cooperation in his third proposal, urging the two countries to make favorable efforts and build platforms for expanding cultural, educational, sanitary, media and non-governmental exchanges, so as to deepen mutual understanding and develop friendship.     He at last proposed the two countries strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs. China is ready to maintain consultation and coordination with Central Africa under the framework of the United Nations and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on global issues, so as to jointly safeguard the developing countries' interests, Hu said.     "China and Central Africa are friends as well as friendly and cooperative partners," Hu said, adding that it has been the Chinese government's persistent policy to develop long-term, stable, friendly and cooperative relations with Central Africa on the basis of sincerity, equality and mutual benefit.     Bozize, who arrived here Wednesday for a week-long state visit to China, said he fully agrees with Hu's notion.     Bozize will also visit southwest China's Yunnan Province and southern Guangdong Province

This year marks not only the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China but also the establishment of the CPPCC.     The book consists of 142 important documents which are divided into three volumes. WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has congratulated the Chinese people on their "unbelievable accomplishments" over the past 60 years, saying that China's modern transformation is an "extraordinary historic event." "If anyone had predicted to me in 1971 what China looks like in2009, I would have thought he was dreaming... but you have made a reality out of these dreams, " Kissinger said in a recent interview with Xinhua at his New York office on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on Oct. 1.     Kissinger, who helped pave the way for the normalization of U.S.-China relations in 1979, said the 30-year-old bilateral relationship has grown remarkably. "In that sense, both sides really have to rebalance the relationship."     The United States needs to take into account the growing role China is playing, while China needs to adjust itself to assume bigger responsibilities, Kissinger said.     Meanwhile, cooperation remains a key solution to the global challenges, he added.     "The United States and China should have a very close relationship," Kissinger said. "They should constantly exchange ideas, so when they go into an international forum like the G20, they have parallel positions and can work together."     Energy and environment remain two major long-term challenges the world has to face, while nations worldwide have yet to coordinate in the globalized economic system, he said.     It is "the imperative of our time" that China and the United States cooperate on these global challenges, he said.     The Group of 20, or G20, should become an inclusive platform for international political and economic affairs for "the next few decades," he noted.

BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Prosecutors have approved the arrest of four employees of the Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto Ltd. on charges of trade secrets infringement and bribery, according to a statement of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate late Tuesday. Preliminary investigations have showed that the four employees, Stern Hu, Liu Caikui, Ge Minqiang and Wang Yong, had obtained commercial secrets of China's steel and iron industry through improper means, which had violated the country's Criminal Law, according to the statement.     Prosecution authorities also found evidence to prove that they were involved in commercial bribery. Four employees of the Anglo-Australian miner Rio Tinto Ltd. have been arrested over alleged stealing of China's state secrets, including Stern Hu, general manager of the company's Shanghai offic. The four people, including Hu, had been detained by China's security authorities Sunday evening    Investigations have also revealed that there were suspects in China's steel and iron enterprises who were providing commercial secrets for them.     The four were detained in Shanghai in early July on charges of stealing China's state secrets.          Stern Hu, an Australian citizen of Chinese origin, was general manager of the company's Shanghai office and was in charge of the iron ore business in China.     Hu was a long-standing employee of Rio Tinto and had lived in Shanghai for a number of years with his wife, who is also an Australian citizen.     The other three, who also worked in the Shanghai office, are Chinese employees of the company.
