A black bear that traveled across several states and garnered a large social media following has been rescued and transported to safety by the Missouri Department of Conservation.According to department officials, the bear traveled through Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri before finding himself trapped between two highways in Wentzville, Missouri.“The bear found itself in a tough spot, stuck by several major roadways,” said MDC State Furbearer Biologist Laura Conlee. “Due to the proximity to the roadways, coupled with the busy travel day, MDC staff determined the bear had little chance of safely leaving the area on its own. In the interest of public safety and the bear’s safety, MDC staff made the decision to immobilize the bear and transport it to a nearby area of suitable bear habitat outside this urban corridor.”Bruno was sedated and then was released unharmed when he awoke, MDC staff said.Social media users had dubbed the black bear Bruno after he was first spotted back in June, officials said in the press release.In a press release, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said Bruno likely traveled the long distance in search of a mate. 1173

A group of NFL owners are accusing Jerry Jones of "damaging the league."Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys, is locked in a bitter feud with the owners of other teams over NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension.A lawyer for the NFL's compensation committee, which is responsible for negotiating Goodell's extension, sent a letter to Jones' attorney on Wednesday urging the Cowboys owner to support the committee and not "attempt to sabotage" its efforts.The letter, of which CNNMoney obtained a copy, said Jones' "antics, whatever their motivation, are damaging the league and reflect conduct detrimental to the league's best interests."The compensation committee is composed of six owners. All the other NFL owners also received a copy of the letter, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.Jones' lawyer didn't immediately respond to a request for comment late Wednesday. The Cowboys declined to comment.The language used in the letter follows reports that other owners are considering whether to strip Jones of his beloved Cowboys. He has said that "well over half" of owners agree with him. A letter that's being circulated on Capitol Hill reveals multiple incoming freshmen -- who were largely noncommittal on the House speaker race during their campaigns --- will in fact support Nancy Pelosi.The letter, obtained by CNN, is still being circulated and so far includes 61 signatures from women incumbents and members-elect. A Las Vegas family is dealing with a bunny multiplying nightmare.There are so many bunnies they have to divvy them up and block them off in different rooms of their house to stop them from reproducing.Kerryann Curtin and her family got Thumper, the male bunny, a couple years ago. More recently, they were gifted what they thought was another boy bunny."They swore it was a boy, the breeder said it was a boy!" said Kerryann's sister Kathleen Curtin-Coble.But to their surprise Brandon the new bunny was a girl. They changed her name to Brandy.Brandy had nine bunnies September 14, 2017. She had seven more a month later and seven more a month after that. That's 23 bunnies in just three months."Even before you know they had babies, they are pregnant again," said Curtin-Coble.On March 22, one of Brandy's baby bunnies had six babies and a few weeks later had three more.The Curtin family has adopted out 21 bunnies on their own but they need help with at least 11 more.They've asked just about everyone for help but no one can help them."We've called Arizona, Utah, California, and every sanctuary in Nevada that we could find," said Curtin-Coble. A federal judge halted construction of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline on Thursday, in a blow to the Trump administration and a win for environmental groups.US District Judge Brian Morris found that the US government's use of a 2014 environmental review to justify issuing a presidential permit for construction of the cross-border pipeline violated the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Administrative Procedure Act, according to the court order issued Thursday."The Court enjoins Federal Defendants and TransCanada from engaging in any activity in furtherance of the construction or operation of Keystone and associated facilities," the court document reads, "until the Department has completed a supplement to the 2014 SEIS (Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement) that complies with the requirements of NEPA and the APA."Environmental groups involved in bringing the 2017 lawsuit celebrated the decision."Keystone XL would be a disaster for the climate and for the people and wildlife of this country," said Jackie Prange, senior attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council, one of the plaintiffs. "As the court has made clear yet again, the Trump administration's flawed and dangerous proposal should be shelved forever."In March 2017, President Donald Trump's administration issued a permit approving construction of the pipeline, reversing the Obama administration's decision to block the controversial project.The White House has not responded to CNN's request for comment on the judge's order.The permit approval followed years of intense debate over the pipeline amid steadfast opposition from environmental groups.They argued that the pipeline would support the extraction of crude oil from oil sands, a process that pumps more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than standard crude oil extraction.
