You have seven seconds to make an impression with your résumé. So you better make every one count."Those first seven seconds someone spends on your résumé are the deciding seconds on whether they like you or not," said salary and hiring coach Olivia Jaras. "They spend the rest of the time trying to corroborate that first impression."Jaras is the founder of Salary Coaching for Women, which helps clients get hired and negotiate salaries.Your résumé does more than just get you an interview, it also plays a role in determining your salary,?she said. That's why the format, word choice and tone are important to getting the reader on your side."It's playing mind games," Jaras said. "A good résumé doesn't sound too pushy, aggressive or assertive. It's a more subtle energy."'Here's how to craft a résumé that will get you hired: 847

at an Aurora ICE detention facility on Friday.During the protest, a small group pulled down the American flag and the GEO flag and replaced them with a Mexican flag and a defaced thin blue line flag by hoisting it upside down and spray-painting in red with an anti-police slogan. There was a rift in the crowd about whether that action was appropriate, with some undocumented protesters leaving out of concern for their safety. Many protesters hoped that image would not overshadow that of so many speaking out against deportation raids and camps.Denver teacher Kathleen Frank went to the protest with her son because she couldn’t stop thinking about the children who have died in U.S. custody.“He is a child like any of those 3 year olds in the concentration camps, so it just breaks my heart and makes me really angry,” she said. “I think it needs to be ended immediately and I feel really helpless in the face of this just unbelievable pain, so this seemed like a small thing I could do.”Some undocumented residents at the rally said they were concerned about what may happen this weekend if the ICE raids promised by president Trump happen in Denver.“They don’t know if when they leave for work one day they’ll come back to their family. That’s the reality I‘ve lived with every day,” said Gladis Ibarra, an undocumented resident who works with Colorado’s immigrant community. “This is 28 years of my life, so I know a lot of people are outraged now, and I hope that the outrage continues past today.”This story was originally published by Jaclyn Allen on 1560

her disabled grandson over the weekend. The Bradenton Police Department conducted the death investigation at an apartment in the 5100 block of Riverfront Drive on Sunday. When officers arrived at the home, they found 30-year-old Joel Parks, who unable to take care of himself, deceased. His grandmother and guardian, Lillian Parks, told officers on scene she "overdosed her grandson with the intention of ending his life," according to police.Police say Parks admitted to everything."She made statements to responding officers that she had purposely overdosed him cause she's dealing with some medical issues herself," Capt. Brian Thiers said. "She's worried when she's gone there will be nobody there to care for him.Thiers said Joel lived in a group home five days a week and spent weekends with his grandmother. After Parks is medically evaluated, police say she’ll be charged with 2nd degree murder. "At the end of the day, Lillian is responsible for the death of another human being," Thiers said. "So, she will be charged with 2nd-degree murder upon her release. She's in a secure medical facility right now. When the doctor releases her, we are intending on charging her with 2nd-degree murder."This story was originally published by WFTS. 1246
