CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) – A woman was treated for smoke inhalation Wednesday night after a boat caught fire near Coronado. According to Harbor Police, authorities received a call about the fire just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night near Zu?iga Point.When crews arrived on scene, no flames were visible, however, a woman aboard the boat at the time of the fire was treated on scene for smoke inhalation. Harbor Police say the fire is being investigated to see whether or not it was caused by an electrical issue. 520

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Coronado Unified School District is mourning the loss of one of their most popular crossing guards. Bruce Campbell, or Mr. Bruce as the kids knew him, passed away on Monday. According to his brother, Bruce was at work Monday when he collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. Campbell went into cardiac arrest and passed away on his way to the hospital. Students and parents set up a memorial on the corner of Sixth and F Street, where he worked every day for the last several years. His brother tells 10News he died doing the job he loved most. In a statement, the district told the Coronado Times that school counselors will be working with students as needed. Bruce Campbell was 68 years old.  770

Country star Jason Aldean was performing when a gunman began firing on the crowd from inside Mandalay Bay. Now, Aldean is opening up about how he's been coping since the tragedy of Oct. 1, 2017.  "I think you go through a lot of different emotions of being thankful that none of your family and friends was injured. And then you feel guilty," said Aldean. "Those people are there to see your show so that's awful."Since that dreadful night in October, Aldean has struggled with the complexity of his feelings about surviving the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history.  "And then you start doing that thing, like, 'Man, did that really happen. Did that really happen to us?' It seems so crazy. Like how could that even be a thing?"Aldean said his wife and crew were a great comfort to him, but it was visiting the injured in the hospital and the birth of his son that put things in perspective. "That helped. Going back to the hospital, going back to Vegas and seeing those people. Seeing some of the strength they were having," said Aldean. " People laid up in the hospital and smiling and laughing and just being glad they were alive."His son was born exactly two months after the Las Vegas shooting."Really to me, he just gave me something else to focus on. COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Brody Allen, the 2-year-old from Ohio who got an early Christmas this year because doctors said he wouldn't live until December, has died.Brody's father, Todd Allen, posted the news on Facebook Friday."This morning at 6 a.m. Brody passed quietly, and peacefully in the arms of his mother Shilo," he wrote. "He did not suffer. He was surrounded by his family and I have no doubt many angels. While our sadness is immeasurable and we will miss his smiling beautiful soul, we are also comforted in knowing that today our son has touched the face of God."Hundreds of people lined the streets of Colerain Township last month to put on a Christmas parade for Brody after doctors said he wouldn't live long enough to celebrate on the holiday.Neighbors decorated their homes, Brody rode a float in the parade and he got to celebrate at a party with Santa Claus and fireworks."He was so happy, Brody’s sister, McKenzie Allen, said that day. "It was amazing. Not just for him, but for everybody."Word of the early Christmas celebration for Brody spread far once it hit social media. Todd Allen previously said the family was receiving Christmas cards from all over the world."The letters are a blessing to us all. It's become a significant part of our day. And we couldn't enjoy it more," he said.After the big parade and party, the family privately celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas.Colerain Township officials established a location for well-wishers to leave memorials at Drew Campbell Memorial Park, next to the administrative building at 4200 Springdale Road. All items left there will be given to the Allen family, police said."It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Brody Allen," police said in a news release. "Brody captured our attention and love over the past few months as he and his family bravely battled the disease that has ultimately taken his life."Services for Brody are being finalized and will occur at the end of next week, according to police. COVID-19 is changing the way we do a lot of things, and one of those things include how you get treatment from a doctor.Craig Nuttall, a nursing professor at Brigham Young University in Provo, says he also works in an emergency room when he's not teaching, and he has found that using a regular stethoscope is almost impossible when he's equipped with personal protective equipment."I’ve been working with Dr. Teng on this digital stethoscope for another project in India and I thought this is the perfect application for this," said Nuttall.Using an existing open-source 3D printed design, Nuttall worked with Chia-Chi Teng, an information technology professor at BYU, to create a digital stethoscope.It works with an app to live stream or record a patient's heartbeat up to a range of 50 feet to a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a speaker.The patient would hold it up to points on their chest under the direction of a doctor or nurse.Teng says another great thing about this is it's easy to put together with just a few parts.He helped develop the 3D printed parts to form a functional, digital stethoscope that costs less than to make.Both professors admit that while digital stethoscopes have been around for some time, they are still expensive, so this is a low-cost way to make them for doctors across the country and even around the world.Nuttall said, "I’ve been using this over the past month as I worked in the emergency department on several patients, so I use it on any patient who has COVID-like symptoms."In addition to protecting healthcare staff, Nuttall said he wants the digital stethoscope to be used for things like telemedicine, treating patients in isolation, and in developing countries that don't have access to healthcare.Instructions on how to build a 3D printed digital stethoscope can be found here and the accompanying Stethogram iOS app is available here.This story originally reported by Jordan Hogan on fox13now.com. 1961
