There are many changes planned to revamp Nashville International Airport including the newly unveiled parking garage. Part of the plan is to give the airport a face lift which includes replacing the terminal carpet that surprisingly has garnered popularity. The brown carpet with its unique lines and swirly designs was installed in 2010. Earlier this year, the BNA carpet gained its own Instagram account with more than 6,500 followers and over 100 posts. Its Instagram stories is flooded with travelers tagging the account as they typically walk through the airport and show the carpet. In case you are a fan, you can purchase clothes, shoes, luggage, and phone covers with the same pattern on an online merchandise boutique called Ray Reid. The popularity also resembles the love for the iconic, retro carpet at Portland Airport before it was removed a few years ago. It also had social media accounts and countless merchandise that offered the pattern.Airport officials in Nashville are aware of the BNA carpet fame. However, it will slowly phase out by the start of the summer of 2020.By 2023, it will all be updated with either terrazzo or new (with a different pattern) carpet, according to a BNA spokesperson. The changes are all part of a bigger picture called BNA Vision. The plan will include demolishing the existing Short Term Parking Garage next month to make room for a bigger and more modern garage.Expansion is also underway for Concourse D and terminal wings, and people should start seeing visible of that in January when steel starts going up. Concourse D will add six new domestic aircraft gate, a variety of restaurants and retail options, and a live music stage. It is expected to be completed by 2020.Additionally, there will be a major renovation of the terminal lobby, which means expanding security screening checkpointsAll of the BNA Vision plan is expected to be finished by 2023. 1918
There was no question when Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter retired in 2014 that he would be a Hall of Famer. The only question was whether he would be a unanimous selection. On Tuesday, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced that Jeter and former Rockies and Expos hitter Larry Walker have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Jeter was just one vote shy of becoming the first position player to be unanimously elected to the Hall of Fame, and only the second Hall of Famer in history to receive 100% votes. Former Yankees closer Mariano Rivera remains the only player to receive 100% of the vote from baseball writers. Jeter had 396 out of 397 possible votes.Rivera and Yankees won five World Series together with the Yankees. Jeter is No. 6 all-time in hits; No. 11 all-time in runs scored; and a five-time Gold Glove winner.Walker was a five-time All Star and was the 1997 MVP. Walker made it into Hall of Fame after being on the ballot for 10 years. He obtained 76% of the vote, 1% more needed for induction, after garnering 54% of the vote last year.Just missing election was Curt Schilling who failed to reach the 75% threshold for induction for the eighth straight year. He was just shy with 70% of the vote. Also failing to make the ballot was pitcher Roger Clemens and outfielder Barry Bonds. Despite having statistics worthy of Hall induction, both players' careers were marred by allegations that they used performance enhancing drugs. Clemens and Bonds both earned 61% of the vote. 1520

The Trump administration told Congress it intends to dramatically cut the number of refugees it will admit in the next fiscal year, only up to 18,000 refugees, according to the State Department -- marking a historic low and threatening to further erode the nation's refugee resettlement program.Under President Donald Trump, the administration has slowly chipped away at the refugee cap, which dictates how many refugees may be admitted to the United States. The ceiling for fiscal year 2019 stands at 30,000, which, at the time, was the lowest level since 1980.The State Department announced the proposed refugee ceiling as part of a larger number of combined refugee and asylum claims expected for the next fiscal year.In a call with reporters, senior administration officials said the report submitted to Congress allocates admissions by "group of special humanitarian interests to the United States," instead of by region -- including Iraqis who assisted the United States, those who have suffered or feared religious persecution, and nationals of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The White House also released an executive order Thursday that requires state and local governments to consent to receiving refugees, with some exceptions. Refugee resettlement agencies are charged with placing refugees around the country, but the new executive order could allow states and local jurisdictions to deny refugees entry. The move continues the administration's push to limit the number of people admitted to the US and comes after discussion that some in the White House wanted to let 1597
The Trump administration is proposing a rollback of nutrition guidelines for school meals that had been promoted by Michelle Obama as part of her campaign to combat child obesity. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says the rule changes are needed to give schools more flexibility and reduce waste while still providing nutritious and appetizing meals. But child nutrition advocates say the change will result in fewer fruits and vegetables and more fries, pizza and other unhealthy foods in the meals served at school. Perdue announced the proposed rule on Obama's birthday. 587
