Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has remained a major vacation destination amid a national pandemic this summer.In recent days, several officials have warned that travelers returning from the popular East Coast beach destination should quarantine themselves and get tested.Despite the warnings, Myrtle Beach officials say they’re open for business, but are asking visitors to vacation responsibly."We understand that people are ready to travel again following these difficult past few months, and excited that people are choosing the Grand Strand as the destination they want to visit," said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of Visit Myrtle Beach. "While it's time to get back to where we all belong, we must remain diligent in maintaining social distancing, wearing a face mask in public places, practicing healthy hygiene and following all of the guidelines established by healthcare professionals in order to keep everyone healthy while they enjoy the Myrtle Beach area."With a permanent residency of 34,000, Myrtle Beach welcomes an estimated 18 million visitors a year. The city's beaches are some of the most popular and busy beaches in the US.But with large gatherings comes the risk of being infected with COVID-19, especially as cases surge in South Carolina.Dr. Molly O’Dell, who is a Roanoke, Virginia, public health official, told reporters on Tuesday that those returning from Myrtle Beach should quarantine upon their return.”One of the significant locations people are going and coming back positive over and over again is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so we are actually suggesting that people who go to quarantine themselves for 14 days because we’ve had so many positives from Myrtle Beach,” said O’Dell.Meanwhile, the governors of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York announced a joint agreement requiring those returning from areas with high community spread of COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days upon their return.The Myrtle Beach region also has seen a reduction of available hospital beds. Currently, 84% of acute hospital beds in Horry County, South Carolina, are occupied. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A mother of three shown in a video being detained by Customs and Border Protection agents was released Tuesday on her own recognizance.Shortly after 9 p.m. Perla Morales-Luna and her daughters shared a tearful reunion. A judge said that Morales-Luna, 36, isn’t a danger to society or a flight risk. During the family's reunion, she did say "Thank you" to the press but had no further comment. The video showing Luna’s detention made rounds on social media earlier in March. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The 65th Nashville Christmas Parade Organizers have announced that Kid Rock will no longer serve as the Grand Marshal of the Nashville Christmas Parade. The organizers have stated that they believe the Grand Marshal should "personify the spirit of Nashville" and therefore, have invited James Shaw Jr. to hold this honor. Shaw became a hero in the community after stopping a shooting at a local Waffle House earlier this year. This news came after Nashville Mayor David Briley announced he may not participate in the city’s Christmas parade if Kid Rock remained the Grand Marshal. The Mayor’s Office issued a statement Friday, saying “if Kid Rock is still the grand marshal tomorrow, the Mayor is inclined not to participate.” Briley’s statement came just hours after Kid Rock’s appearance on “Fox & Friends,” in which he called Joy Behar a “b----.” “God forbid you say something a little bit wrong, you’re a racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, this that and the other. MISSOURI (KMOV) -- A state representative from western Missouri wants to ban porn access for everyone in the state unless you pay up.Representative Jim Neely (R-Cameron) says the idea behind his bill is simple: protecting kids.The bill says a distributor who makes or sells a product that is accessible to the internet, like a phone or a computer would be required to install a blocking software that would prevent the device from accessing obscene material.Neely says it would apply to all porn. A person could have the blocking software removed if they prove they are more 18-years-old and pays a deactivation fee. The money would go into a fund called the “Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Prevention Fund.”When pressed on how the blocking software would work, Neely said it would be similar to how schools block students from websites, but when pressed he admitted, he wasn’t sure of the logistics.“I’m a physician, I don’t know computers,” said Neely in a phone interview.Cindy Wallace is the manager of Simple Pleasures Boutique in south St. Louis. Miss USA has apologized after comments she made about two fellow Miss Universe contestants' English-language abilities sparked backlash online.In a live Instagram video posted on Wednesday, 24-year-old contestant Sarah Rose Summers said that Miss Vietnam H'Hen Nie is "so cute and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she (nods and smiles)."Summers, who was joined in the video by Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales and Miss Australia, Francesca Hung, was attending the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday in Bangkok.Later on in the video Summers appeared to express sympathy for Miss Cambodia, Rern Sinat, who she said, "doesn't speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language.""Can you imagine?
