SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Thursday were searching for a suspect who carjacked a 56-year-old man while he was listening to music in a City Heights parking lot.It happened around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot near the intersection of Euclid and University avenues, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.The victim was listening to music in his red 2013 Nissan Versa sedan when a man walked up to the car, lifted his shirt up and showed that he had a gun in his waistband, Heims said. The suspect then told the 56-year-old man to get out of the car, and the victim complied.The suspect got into the Nissan, which had California license plate 7EKT818, and drove off southbound on Euclid Avenue, the officer said.The suspect was described as a 5-foot-11 Hispanic man in his early 20s who weighed between 150 and 180 pounds. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County public health officials reported a record-high 1,091 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths Friday, raising the region's totals to 69,231 cases and 960 deaths.Four women and four men died between Nov. 1 and Nov. 19. Their ages ranged from early 50s to early 90s. All had underlying medical conditions.Friday was the 10th consecutive day more than 600 new coronavirus cases were reported by the county, and the most reported in a single day. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County health officials reported 1,378 new COVID-19 infections and 22 deaths today as hospitalizations continue to surge with nearly triple the number of people hospitalized compared to a month ago.Tuesday's data brings the cumulative number of cases to 83,421 while the death toll crossed another milestone as it reached 1,019.The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 723 coronavirus patients hospitalized as of Tuesday, with 197 of them in intensive care units.
