(CNN) -- The wildflower super bloom that brought magnificent swaths of color and hordes of lookie-loos to California is coming to an end.The city of Lake Elsinore on Monday declared, with more than a little relief, that the super bloom is nearly over, with the hillsides fading from orange to green as poppies drop their petals and begin to wither.The poppies are no longer visible from Interstate 15, so visitors now have to hike more than a mile to see what's left of the flower display, city officials said."We survived the poppy apocalypse!" the city posted on its Instagram page."The Super Bloom has been unlike any event we have ever experienced before," Mayor Steve Manos said in a news release. "The extreme beauty of our hillsides that drew attention from around the world is now diminishing quickly, and our residents sure are eager for things to get back to normal."The flowers could be seen from space, but thousands of people came to Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore to get a closer look.The spectacle was so popular that authorities at one point restricted access to Walker Canyon because tourists were jamming traffic, crushing flowers and overflowing toilets.Just 4,658 visitors used the Walker Canyon shuttle last weekend, down from 12,062 the prior weekend, city officials said.Flower fans can still get their super bloom fix in other parts of the state, though.Blooms at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, in Los Angeles County, are expected to continue through April, officials there said.They urged visitors to stay on the trails to avoid crushing the delicate flowers and to leave dogs, bikes and drones at home.A couple last month landed a helicopter in the reserve to skip the lines. That was illegal.Anza-Borrego Desert State Park officials say the big show is winding down there, too, though wildflowers are still blooming in some spots. 1880

"All necessary work has been completed to declare Mexican Cartels terrorist organizations. (CNN) -- Nike's gamble to partner with athlete-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick paid off Sunday as the company won an Emmy for outstanding commercial at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.The commercial, titled "Dream Crazy," features Kaepernick alongside other sports legends including Serena Williams and LeBron James, who have reached beyond their personal achievements to support and advance political and social causes.The ad was released in September 2018 days before the start of the NFL season. Kaepernick was one of the faces of Nike's 30th anniversary commemoration of its iconic "Just Do It" campaign.Despite some intense response to the ad -- like people burning their Nike shoes and a Missouri college dropping the brand -- the company's stock hit an all-time high. (KGTV) — Disney officials say the company's California parks are prepared to reopen as soon as the state gives guidance for theme parks to open their doors.During a roundtable discussion with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, Disney World’s chief operating officer Jim MacPhee said the California theme parks are "ready to roll" once they are given the chance to reopen.“Disneyland has been ready to roll since July awaiting guidance from the state's governor on what the reopening protocols will be,” said MacPhee.RELATED: SeaWorld San Diego prepares to reopen with Zoo Days eventOfficials from Universal Studios who were also at the roundtable echoed the same preparedness."We're awaiting our park in Hollywood, as with Disney and SeaWorld, with respect to the state of California and the governor and when we'll be able to reopen. Disneyland, California Adventure, and Universal Studios have all been shuttered since March due to the pandemic. Disney officials had rolled out a phased reopening plan and safety measures in June with the assumption they would have guidance by July, but delayed the plans when it became clear the state was not issuing guidance anytime soon.MacPhee said one of the challenges is convincing state leadership, and eventually potential guests, that the parks' safety precautions to prevent to spread of COVID-19 will be effective."I think it's driving awareness, driving a strong focus on how safe our environment is, and having people roll in," MacPhee said.SeaWorld officials were also present at the meeting.
