(KGTV) - A San Marcos woman is speaking out for the first time about her ,000,000 claim against San Diego County.She told 10News that two sheriff's deputies knocked on her door in the middle of the night last August for a welfare check.  There was no problem and they left but she said Deputy Richard Fischer returned alone an hour later, saying he needed to use her restroom; then told her she was cute and hugged her, several times."It wasn't an okay hug.  I was stunned, shocked.  It was very fast and confusing."She resisted. "Yeah, I felt very vulnerable, intimidated, felt weak. I felt little.  It's just a mess! Everything is a mess!   This is hard to do. He shouldn't have come back to my house and I don't ... everything's a mess!"Three months later, she said she's still frightened."Would I open the door anymore? No. I think he's bad for law enforcement and bad for me. I think he's a bad guy!"Dep. Fischer was placed on administrative duties after the complaint was filed.  An investigation is ongoing, now with two more women talking to investigators.Another San Marcos woman told a similar story.  An Alpine woman said she was arrested on a questionable charge, handcuffed, and fondled while in restraints. 1329

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- San Francisco's iconic Cliff House restaurant that for more than a century has served tourists and locals from atop a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean is closing its doors at the end of the year.Restaurant proprietors Dan and Mary Hountalas say in a post on the restaurant's website they are closing Dec. 31 because of losses brought on by the pandemic and not being able to renew a long-term operating contract with the National Park Service.They have been the restaurant's proprietors since 1973.The couple says 180 employees will lose their jobs. 581

From Disneyland to Yosemite National Park, the Golden State's iconic destinations are closed to slow the spread of the pandemic. Even before the governor ordered residents to stay home, tourists found restaurants and bars closed in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Major attractions such as Alcatraz off San Francisco and the Santa Monica Pier are closed. SANTEE, Calif (KGTV) — The "sprayground" was inconveniently closed Tuesday as temperatures were expected to near 100 degrees in Santee Lakes. "I came the day before and it was 57 degrees," says Walter Frank of Santee. "But I don't mind that it's hot. It gets to 90 degrees, I'm great... I'll go run two miles."Not everyone agrees, and many people were out early trying to get their exercise in before it gets hot. A heat advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday for the coast and valleys. On top of the heat, dry and gusty winds are expected in the inland and mountain areas of the county, elevating fire danger.It was 96 degrees in Santee Monday, with a high of 98 expected Tuesday and above average temperatures all week. In the morning, it was still cool enough to get a walk around the lake in, or participate in the other popular early morning activity: Fishing. SELMA, Ala. (AP) — Bruce Carver Boynton, a civil rights pioneer who inspired the “Freedom Rides," has died at the age of 83.Former Alabama state Sen. Hank Sanders confirmed Boynton's passing Tuesday.Boynton was arrested 60 years ago for entering the white part of a racially segregated bus station in Virginia.That action began a chain reaction of events that ultimately helped to bring about the abolition of Jim Crow laws in the South.Boynton contested his conviction, and his appeal resulted in a Supreme Court decision that prohibited bus station segregation and helped inspire the landmark “Freedom Rides” of 1961. 627
