You might have a mayor wanting something different happening in the local community,” said Dr. Lynn Bufka, Senior Director for Practice, Research and Policy at APA. “So, it becomes very difficult for the average person who's not an expert in these matters to figure out how to make decisions.”Bufka says this kind of cognitive overload or "decision fatigue" can make the simplest choices seem more exhausting, like what to wear or what to have for dinner.Bufka suggests two ways to take the pressure off. First, accept that it's not easy right now so it's okay to be imperfect. And second, set up a new routine. Even just rotating the same few outfits can help cut down on the decisions you have to make.“We don't really think about how much thinking and how much mental effort goes into what we do in the day,” said Bufka. “Every time we make a decision, that's a little bit of mental effort.”Bufka says our normal routines before, during and after quarantine will all look different. Someone laughs. Bales and her daughter scream.The assault, which happened Monday, left physical and emotional bruises on both. Bales said the group arrived at their home that afternoon hoping to settle a score from an earlier fight at Oyler School — a fight that had already resulted in her daughter’s expulsion.She didn’t know that when she answered the front door that afternoon. The two girls waiting on her porch asked if her daughter was home, she said; Bales told them yes and went to get her.“Are they here to start trouble?” she said she asked.“I don’t know who they are,” her daughter replied.When they walked to the front gate, however, she recognized one of them. Teenagers began to climb out of a pair of cars nearby, according to Bales.And then it was too late to escape.“I tried to cover her with my body, to get to my patio to try to get back inside,” Bales said. “They rushed us to make it over there. I saw her get snatched by the back of her hair and get thrown to the ground.”Mother and daughter were kicked and punched while one of the group stood at the bottom of their porch stairs and streamed the assault. CINCINNATI — After a search-and-recover effort that lasted more than a day, Cincinnati firefighters on Tuesday night located and removed the body of a construction worker who had become trapped in a half-collapsed, half-finished downtown parking garage the day before.Cincinnati City Manager Patrick Duhaney broke the news to members of City Council in an email. “The heart of the City of Cincinnati goes out to the family and friends of the deceased,” he wrote. “This is a truly a sad day for our City.
