A comedian pretending to be Sen. Bob Menendez for a bit says he got through to the President, who called him back from Air Force One."I am shocked ... I mean we did this as a goof, I'm a comedian," said John Melendez, better known as Stuttering John. "I just could not believe that it took us an hour and a half to get Jared Kushner and Donald Trump on the phone from Air Force One."At the start of the purported call, the voice that sounds like Trump congratulates who he thought was Menendez on his acquittal in a federal corruption case, saying, "You went through a tough, tough situation, and I don't think a very fair situation. But congratulations."The two also discuss the upcoming Supreme Court vacancy, according to the audio on the podcast. The voice that sounds like Trump promises the fake Menendez he'll nominate a new justice in "10 to 14 days.""All they had to ask me is what party affiliation is Sen. Menendez, or what state is he a senator of, and I would not have known. But they didn't ask me any of this," Melendez told CNN.Melendez told CNN that they initially called the White House and were honest about their identity, but the White House said Trump was busy and hung up.So they called again, but this time as "Shawn Moore," a fake assistant to Menendez."I changed my voice to an English accent. I do the worst English accent in the history of English accents. So I said, 'Yeah, this is Shawn Moore, Sen. Menendez's assistant, and we'd like to talk to the President.' They said they'd call me back, and then they called back on cellphone," Melendez recalled.According to audio that aired on Melendez's podcast, Trump called while flying on Air Force One on his way back from his rally in Fargo, North Dakota, on Wednesday night."Donald picks up the phone and I started talking to the President. I never said to Donald that I was Sen. Menendez. I was just talking in my Long Island accent. The thing is, you hear my bad Long Island accent and a voice that Donald has talked to so many times," Melendez said."The President wants to be accessible to members and likes engaging them and wants them to have the opportunity to connect. The downside of that is sometimes the channels are open too widely and mistakes like this happen," a White House official said about the incident.A source said someone in the White House Legislative Affairs Office reached out to Menendez's office Thursday morning about the phone call. The source said the New Jersey Democrat's staffers were very confused and didn't know what it was about. They haven't talked to the White House since the recording came out.Another White House aide also acknowledged the call happened. This aide said White House legislative director Marc Short apparently shot down the call initially. But the aide said senior adviser Jared Kushner "patched the call through anyways.""As someone who has spent my entire career trying to convince Republicans to join me in reforming our nation's broken immigration system, I welcome any opportunity to have a real conversation with the President on how to uphold the American values that have guided our family-based immigration policy for the past century. A chalk art controversy at Cleveland State University is getting national attention online.A group of students created a memorial for the victims of 9/11 on the sidewalks outside the CSU student center. On the morning of the somber anniversary, the university's maintenance crew removed the murals with a power washer.Now CSU and the head of its maintenance department are getting blasted on social media. The comments and reaction have not been good.But what is being lost in the online outrage is that this form of expression is actually not allowed on campus.CSU sophomore Tiffany Roberts pointed out the streaks of color that remain on the sidewalk outside the CSU Student Center Wednesday."So right here, we had two twin towers and it said 'pause,'" said Roberts.She was standing near her project on the morning of Sept. 11 when a crew showed up with a power washer."It was really disheartening to see all of our hard work kind of wash away like that," said Roberts.Roberts, along with nearly a dozen of her classmates, are members of a conservative campus group."Our whole intention was to just honor those people," said Donato Nunez.On Sunday night, they used chalk to pay their respects to the victims of 9/11."I looked through the handbook to make sure it was OK for me to chalk on campus," said Roberts.Roberts told WEWS she didn't see anything about chalk."The only thing I found was that you are not allowed to attach anything to the sidewalks or the pavements," said Roberts.Monday morning, the CSU Director of Facilities Management, who also happens to be Muslim, sent a crew out to wash the artwork away.A handful of conservative websites, along with social media, quickly erupted with outrage, alleging that it may have been politically motivated. "Absolutely disgusted by this!" wrote one Facebook user. "People can desecrate the American flag, people can refuse to stand for the national anthem, they organize Rally's to keep others from using the freedom of speech, and all that's ok... Students work hard in drawing an American flag on Sept 11th, it gets washed away, on the order of an Islamic man, and that's ok! Exactly what's wrong with this country!"Now some members of the conservative campus group acknowledge the rumors got out of hand by social media users who were unfamiliar with the facts.  "It just looks so bad, and we didn't want that," said Nunez.Cleveland State said this has nothing to do with religion and it does not allow students to use chalk to express themselves on campus. A couple in North Carolina has been using the same set of numbers to play the state’s lottery for 26 years, and recently, that loyalty paid off.Terry Coggeshall and wife won more than 6,000 in the Cash 5 jackpot.“These are my wife’s numbers that we’ve been playing for 26 years,” said Coggeshall in a release from the North Carolina Education Lottery. “We started playing them in Florida when we lived there.”Coggeshall says their lucky numbers have gotten them close to the jackpot a few times. A brawl broke out during a sentencing Wednesday afternoon of a former daycare owner accused of reckless homicide in the death of a 7-week-old baby in her care.37-year-old Claudette Mitchell was being sentenced for charges related to the death of a 2-month-old child that died while in Mitchell's care last August at "WHO'S LUVIN YOU" daycare. Mitchell ran the daycare out of her home on Milwaukee's northside. A criminal complaint says Mitchell told police she put the baby down for a nap and when she checked on her about an hour later she was unresponsive and had scratches and blood on her face. Court documents show the baby suffered multiple fractures to her skull and bruising all over her body. Forensic investigators believe the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.  Mitchell received a sentence of 42 months, and upon release, 48 months of supervision. Following the sentencing, an altercation broke out between 50 members of Mitchell's and the victim's families and friends according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.Additional deputies and district attorney investigators were called to the room to restore order. Authorities say additional security had been in place prior to the altercation but Mitchell's loved ones did not comply with deputies’ orders to remain in the courtroom while the victim’s family was being escorted out. 1407

A man riding a horse on Saturday was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence when he entered the 91 freeway near Long Beach, California.The California Highway Patrol Santa Fe Springs division posted pictures of the arrest on Twitter saying "Don’t put yourself, your beautiful animal, or others in danger of being killed in traffic." So a horse walks onto the 91 freeway...no joke.
