U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin will not be participating in an investor conference in Saudi Arabia.Other top finance leaders — including three in Britain, France and Holland — have also withdrawn amid growing controversy over dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi's disappearance and apparent killing.Mnuchin said on Wednesday that he would make the decision based on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's briefing to President Donald Trump on his visit earlier this week to Riyadh to discuss the Khashoggi case.Pompeo said Thursday that he advised Trump to give the Saudis "a few more days" to investigate.Mnuchin had repeatedly said he plans to attend the Future Investment Initiative pending new information about the case, even as details reported in the Turkish and American press about the fate of the Washington Post columnist's fate have grown increasingly gory.Turkish investigators wearing hazmat suits searched the Saudi consul general's residence in Istanbul on Wednesday, looking for clues to what happened to Khashoggi amid growing indications that the men allegedly responsible for the journalist's death have close ties to the highest levels of the Saudi government.Sources told CNN that a group of Saudi men whom Turkish officials believe are connected to Khashoggi's apparent killing were led by a high-ranking intelligence officer, with one source saying he was close to the inner circle of the kingdom's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.Emerging details have triggered a number of top government officials to withdraw from participating in the event, including UK Trade Minister Liam Fox."The Secretary of State for International Trade has decided the time is not right for him to attend the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh on 23 October," said a UK government spokesman in a statement Thursday. VENTURA, Calif. (KGTV) - A suspect who led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit onto the 101 Freeway died of an apparent poisoning.The chase began Wednesday in Oxnard during a vehicle check, according to ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officials said information came back on the car belonging to a rape suspect. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused, KABC reported.The chase continued northbound onto the 101 Freeway and ended in Ventura. The vehicle came to a stop in the center median, though CHP officers told KABC it's unclear if the suspect crashed of stopped the vehicle on his own.The suspect was seen motionless outside his vehicle, with the passenger-side glass shattered, according to KABC. Officers told the station they believed the suspect possibly poisoned himself.No officers were reportedly injured.Both sides of the 101 Freeway were initially shut down between Sanjon Road to Seaward Avenue, but some lanes have since reopened, KABC reported. 1028

Two childcare workers have turned themselves into Florida police custody after a video surfaced of them berating, taunting and throwing a backpack at an 8-year-old child with autism.On Sept. 1, Winter Haven PD found out about a Snapchat video showing 26-year-old Kaderrica Smith and then 19-year-old Alexis Henderson taunting, aggravating, yelling at and tripping a student at Our Children's Academy.The 8-year-old is seen and heard in the video crying and hiding underneath a table while Henderson and Smith continue to taunt him.At one point the child tries to run towards one of the workers when she grabs his arms and sweeps his legs out from under him causing him to fall.The video lasts about three minutes and at one point shows one of the workers throwing a backpack at the child, hitting him in the face."There has to be an accountability measure for folks," said Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird. "Especially when they're supposed to be the professionals. They get hired as the professionals, they're being paid as the professionals."In initial interviews, the two said they felt they were acting appropriately and did nothing wrong. Henderson and Smith just received their certification for childcare last month. "Those aren't methods that you can even begin to defend as being used to defuse a situation with an autistic child," said Bird. They were each immediately fired by the faculty and DCF placed a hold on their certifications.The child was interviewed by a DCF Child Protection Team member on Sept. 15 and it was determined the acts were criminal.Police were initially unable to locate the two, thus giving reason to issue a warrant.  1713

VERO BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man is accused of coughing, sneezing and spitting inside a Best Buy in Vero Beach after he was asked to put on a mask.According to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, Alton Ashby, 51, approached the Geek Squad counter maskless and was asked by an employee to put on a mask.Deputies said Ashby dumped a package of masks on the store floor and then refused to leave.According to authorities, Ashby began sneezing, coughing and spitting on surfaces around the store.Deputies said Ashby walked to the front of the store carrying a soda, "which he sprayed everywhere as he was walking out."According to deputies, Ashby said he was "upset and is going through a lot this year and got carried away at the store."This story originally reported by Victoria Lewis on WPTV.com. 810
