KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Plaza Academy teacher Justin Gillespie is bringing hip hop production to his classroom.The class is called ‘The Beat Academy of KC’ and is the 5th and 6th hour at school for students.“It's the only program in Kansas City that teaches kids how to make hip hop production,” Gillespie said.Gillespie launched the program back in August.“It's been something I've done in my personal life,” Gillespie said. “I've been a professional musician for 15 years and it's been super rewarding.”From beats to rhythms, students take their creativity to a whole new level.“I'm excited to go here everyday,” freshman Thom Van Til said. “I get joyful when I come here, like it helps me calm down,” 8th grader K’ron Lyons said.The class is producing more than just quality hip hop, it’s also producing higher grades and more engagement from students.“Justin would probably say you cannot perform because your grades is bad, so he encourages me to like make sure I do my work,” Lyons said.Students plan to perform what they’ve been working on at the Beat Academy Block Party alongside Kansas City hip hop artists like Ces Cru, JL & Info Gates, Adrian Truth and Suli4Q. The school is raising funds to build a recording studio this summer, to make more courses available to students next year.  1328

KENOSHA, Wis. – Jacob Blake, the man shot in the back by a police officer in Kenosha, is no longer shackled to his hospital bed.Friday morning, Blake’s father told CNN during an interview that his son remained shackled to his bed, even though he is currently paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the officer-involved shooting on Sunday.In the interview, Jacob Blake, Sr. said it "bothered" him that his son remained shackled in "cold steel" despite his condition."He can't get up. He can't get up if he wanted to," Blake Sr. said. "So, that's a little overkill to have him shackled to the bed. That makes no sense to me."Blake’s attorney, Patrick Cafferty, confirmed to WTMJ that the handcuffs confining the 29-year-old to his bed were removed around noon Friday and the officers that were posted in his hospital room have left.A spokesman for the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office explained to CNN on Friday that Blake was handcuffed to the bed because he had felony warrants for his arrest from crimes he allegedly committed prior to the shooting.Cafferty says the warrant has since been vacated, but domestic violence charges from July are still pending.The attorney also says a district attorney helped in the process of getting the cuffs removed and that 0 cash bond was posted in relation to the July charges.Blake has been hospitalized since Sunday afternoon when he was shot in the back at least seven times as Kenosha police officers attempted to take him into custody. The officer who fired his weapon, Rusten Sheskey, has been placed on administrative leave.While police have not announced formal charges against Blake or said why they attempted to arrest him, they've claimed that officers had been called to his girlfriend's house because he wasn't "supposed to be there." Police have also said that Blake admitted he was in possession of a knife, which was later found in his car.Throughout the country, it's standard procedure for police to shackle a suspect to a hospital bed if that person is under arrest.Blake's father also told CNN that his son was "hallucinating" when he went to visit."He grabbed my hand and began to weep and he told me that he was hallucinating. And then he said, 'I love you, dad. Daddy, I love you.,'" Blake said. "His next question was, 'Why'd they shoot me so many times?' I said, 'Baby, they weren't supposed to shoot you at all.'"He also told CNN that he spoke to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, earlier this week. Statistically speaking, that’s not too far off. Identical triplets were born at Truman Medical Center Thursday to Nicole and Caleb Choge. Baby boys Ron, Elkanah, and Abishai were born just minutes apart and six weeks premature. By Sunday, the brothers were doing well under observation in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit. According to doctors, it’s not uncommon for multiple births to come prematurely. What is uncommon is identical triplets. According to a study in the Journal of Biosocial Science, identical triplets occur only about 20 to 30 times per 1 million births. While the boys’ mother rested, new father Caleb Choge spoke with reporters Sunday. The couple, who have a 2-year-old son, was expecting another baby but were surprised when they saw the sonogram. “My wife and I and our son prayed for another child,” he said. “And then, I like to say, God answered everybody’s prayer: one, two and three.”Until recently, the couple lived in Kenya, Caleb Choge’s home country. JUSTIN, Texas – Yaser Abdel Said, one of the FBI’s 10 most wanted fugitives, was taken into custody in Texas on Wednesday.Said, 63, has been wanted since 2008, when the FBI says the father shot and killed his teenage daughters, 18-year-old Amina and 17-year-old Sarah.Before the shooting in Irving, the Egyptian-born suspect allegedly took the teens for a ride in his taxicab under the guise of taking them to get something to eat.A police report at the time said a family member reported Said threatened “bodily harm” against Sarah for going on a date with a non-Muslim, The Associated Press reports.Based on an investigation by the Irving Police Department, a capital murder-multiple warrant was issued for Said’s arrest on Jan. 2, 2008.
