WASHINGTON, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Vice Premier Liu He said here Saturday that China and the United States have reached consensuses on economic and trade issues, pledging not to engage in a trade war.
Xi also said that China is ready to work with the international community as well as all parties concerned, including South Korea and the DPRK, to comprehensively promote the political solution of the Korean Peninsula issue and play a positive role in the final realization of lasting peace in the region.
Li made the remarks while addressing a celebration ceremony of the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia.
He called for all-out efforts to protect the Yangtze River, saying there should be no large-scale development of the river.
Efforts should also be made to develop the digital economy, promote deep integration between the internet, big data, artificial intelligence, and real economy, and make the manufacturing, agriculture, and service sectors more digitalized, smart, and internet-powered, he said.
