After Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that Greenland is not for sale, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday evening that he will postpone an upcoming meeting between the two leaders, citing Frederiksen's comments as the reason. Trump said on Sunday that his meeting with Frederiksen was "not for this reason at all. But we're looking at it."But Trump's tweet goes against what he said on Sunday. "Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland," Trump tweeted, "I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time. The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!"Trump's interest in Greenland was revealed last week. The island, which is the world's largest by land area, has 55,000 residents. While Greenland is an autonomous nation for domestic issues, Denmark manages the island's foreign policy.Frederiksen 1162

A New Hampshire woman faces an animal cruelty charge after pushing her 11-year-old dog into a lake and watching it drown.Nancy Bucciarelli was arrested Friday. She is accused of taking her golden Labrador Retriever to Wasserman Park in Merrimack, about 29 miles south of Concord, on June 8 and then pushing it from a dock where it struggled to swim and eventually drowned, police said in a news release. An investigation by the department's animal control officer found the 66-year-old Bucciarelli made no attempt to rescue the dog, police said.Witnesses told investigators the dog appeared "old and easily winded," the release said. "Witnesses further advised that when they could see the dog struggling, they tried to render aid; however, it was too late."The dog drowned in 3 1/2 feet of water, police said.Bucciarelli surrendered to Merrimack police. She was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Merrimack Circuit Court on June 27 to answer to the charge of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.CNN has reached out to Bucciarelli for comment. 1083

A transformer explosion at a power plant in Queens temporarily lit up the New York City skyline in a brilliant blue Thursday night. But despite the eerily glowing color, an alien invasion it was not.Instead, the light came as part of a brief electrical fire after a "couple of transformers tripped offline" at the intersection of 20th Avenue and 32nd Street in Astoria, Con Edison spokesman Bob McGee told CNN.The issue caused a transmission dip in the area, and Con Edison crews responded with the Fire Department of New York, Con Edison said. The incident is under control and no injuries have been reported, the FDNY said. The explosion was determined to be a non-suspicious equipment malfunction, according to a tweet from the NYPD 114th Precinct. There are no significant reported power outages anymore, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said."No injuries, no fire, no evidence of extraterrestrial activity," the 920

A suspect in arson fires at three historically black Louisiana churches is a law enforcement officer's son who may have been influenced by "black metal" music and "its associated history with church burnings," the state fire marshal said Thursday. The man was identified as Holden Matthews, 21, according to Gov. John Bel Edwards, who called the fires a reminder of "a very dark past of intimidation and fear.""I don't know what this young man's motive was, I don't know what was in his heart, but I can say it cannot be justified or rationalized," Edwards told reporters. "These were evil acts. But let me be clear about this, hate is not a Louisiana value."Matthews is charged with three counts of simple arson on a religious building, State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years. Matthews has no history of violence or prior arrests, officials said."We can now confirm all three of these fires are intentionally set and all three of these fires are related," Browning said. The motive is still under investigation, and federal officials are looking into whether the fires represent a hate crime."Information investigators have uncovered, and that Matthews has offered, suggests a possible connection with a genre of music called 'black metal' and its associated history with church burnings in other parts of the world, which have been documented in movies and books," Browning said. "Any questions as to the potential motives of hate are continuing to be vetted by federal authorities."Matthews is the son of a local sheriff's deputy, said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. He said he broke the news of Matthews' alleged involvement to the deputy, whom he described as one of his best friends."As we all know, Holden's father is an employee of mine, a fine man," Guidroz said. "He was shocked and hurt as any father would be ... He was in terrible shape."St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre burned on March 26, followed by Greater Union Baptist Church in Opelousas on April 2 and, two days later, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in the same town.Officials are also investigating a fourth, smaller fire on March 31 at the predominantly white Vivian United Pentecostal Church in Caddo Parish, more than 200 miles north of St. Landry. The blaze was intentionally set. Officials said Thursday they had no evidence linking the Caddo fire to the other three. The FBI and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigations.
