SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego lifeguards reported that although about 155,000 beachgoers hit San Diego beaches Saturday and Sunday, the number of rescues and medical assists made by lifeguards was not excessive going into the third day of the Labor Day weekend.``On Saturday there were about 120,000 people on the beaches, and on Sunday there were about 135,000 people,'' said San Diego Lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum. ``We did about 2,000 preventative acts each day.'' Lerum said the number of rescues made both days was relatively light.`We made 15 rescues on Saturday, and 42 rescues on Sunday, mostly because the ocean has been pretty calm,'' he said. `We had more medical aids, 40 on Saturday and 35 on Sunday. We're going to probably have more than that for Labor Day, but the final figures are not yet in.''`The bulk of what we've been doing on the beaches has been taking care of sick and injured people,'' said Lerum. ''We also had a flurry of kayak rescues, About five kayaks tipped over into the ocean. We rescued those kayaks. Everybody is fine.''There was lots of boating activity over the holiday weekend.Lerum said a person fell from either Ocean Beach Pier or the seawall there about 5:30 p.m. on Labor Day. The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.``We had a ton of boating incidents on Mission Bay,'' said Lerum.``That's a big part of what we do. It was a spectacular Labor Day weekend. People were enjoying the beautiful weather and warm water.'' 1477

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Starting Wednesday, Southwest Airlines is providing daily, nonstop service from San Diego International Airport to Honolulu. The inaugural flight departed at 8 a.m. from San Diego to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii."We've been anticipating this route for many months and welcome Southwest's new daily service to Honolulu," San Diego County Regional Airport Authority President and CEO Kimberly Becker said."There has always been high demand for leisure travel to both San Diego and Honolulu and, with a military presence in each city, a desire to visit friends and family," she said. "We appreciate Southwest's continued investment in our city as they add Hawaii to their expanding list of nonstop markets from San Diego."Though Wednesday marked Southwest's first daily flight from San Diego to Honolulu, Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines also offer service from the airport to Honolulu. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, passengers flying to Hawaii were advised to review the state's travel policy, which includes pre-travel testing program, the Mandatory State of Hawaii Travel and Health Form, and temperature screening upon arrival. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The median price of a home in San Diego County rose by 8 percent in July, compared with the same month a year earlier, a real estate information service announced Thursday.According to CoreLogic, the median price of a San Diego County home was 9,750 last month, up from 7,000 in July 2017. A total of 3,607 homes were sold in the county, down 3.5 percent from 3,739 during the same month the previous year.A total of 21,277 new and resale houses and condos changed hands in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties last month, according to CoreLogic. That was down 6.6 percent from 22,786 in June, and up 0.3 percent from 21,214 in July 2017.RELATED: Housing market could see shift to buyer's market in 2020The median price of a Southern California home was 0,000 in July, down 1.3 percent from the record high of 7,000 in June and up 5.8 percent from 1,000 in July 2017."It's not unusual for a regional median sale price to fall back a bit from an all-time high, such as the 7,000 record median logged this June," said Andrew LePage, research analyst with CoreLogic. "Last month's median price was up 5.8 percent relative to last July, which was the lowest annual growth in 18 months and a further sign of the continuing erosion or affordability." 1330
