Shoppers these days are abandoning expensive stores at the mall, evidenced by the thousands of store locations closing in the past year. Many are turning to bargain stores like Marshall's, TJ Maxx and the biggest bargain retailer of all: dollar stores. But which provides the best bang for your buck? Shoppers love the dealsWe decided to compare stores in one central shopping district, where Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and Dollar General are all located within a half mile of each other. At Dollar Tree, Amy McInehimer and her daughters were stocking up on pool supplies."They had all sorts of floaties and inflatable things," she said. "It's crazy, just a dollar. And anywhere else it's 10 bucks."Lisa Webster was buying goods for a girl's sleepover. Her haul included beach balls, glow sticks, flashlights and M&M's.And all those supplies cost just each. "I think it's great because it usually lasts just one summer," Webster said. But dollar stores are for more than toys and beach balls. At any of them there is a good chance you can find Glad bags, Ajax cleaner, Wonder Bread, drain cleaner, picture frames and lots of party supplies, all for either or just slightly more.Shopper Nicole Rivera says she saves hundreds of dollars a month on her household basics. "It's way cheaper because you get everything for a buck," she said. Some now charge much more than You may notice that inflation has taken a toll at some dollar stores, where you'll find a lot of products at and even .That's not the case at Dollar Tree, where everything is still just (though it is now experimenting with higher prices in some markets).Travel and shopping blogger 1677

SAN DIEGO - Some Uber customers around San Diego got a major case of sticker shock when they see just how much they were being charged for their rides. On Wednesday afternoon, Kelley Rowe and two others were trying to get from the airport to the convention center to get her Comic-Con badges. Rowe, who flew in from Wisconsin, clicked and approved an Uber ride for .08. Not long after, she got an alarming message. "I got a text from my credit card company asking if it was fraud. Uber tried to charge ,308 to my credit car," said Rowe. The pending charge on her credit card was 100 times the actual cost. "It was huge sticker shock. I'm sure I swore immediately," said Rowe. Her bank put a hold on the charge and the ride never happened. Her credit card was now suspended during a week she needed to use it. "I'm very lucky I had credit card attached and not a debit card," said Rowe. Others may not have been so lucky. Some customers tweeted the ride drained their accounts. According to the Washington Post, an unknown amount of riders in San Diego and Washington D.C. experienced what Uber calls a glitch from a 'known' issue.Uber called it a system error in a message sent to Rowe. The company saying the overcharges will be reversed, but Rowe says needs to be more forthcoming and apologize. "They should be explicit about what the problem was, the scope and what they're doing to prevent it in the future. An apology would demonstrate some form of accountability and remorse," said Rowe. Scripps affiliate KGTV reached out to Uber to find out if the problem has been corrected for good, but have not gotten a response. Experts suggest riders not link debit cards with rideshare companies. This article was originally publshed by KGTV. 1756

SAN FRANCISCO — California police officer Robert Davies was arrested after pursing someone police say he believed was a teenage girl on social media.A 20-year-old college student whose name is not public says he used a Snapchat filter to pose as a teen girl and take down a sexual predator. He said he did so because he has a friend who was the victim of a sex crime as a child, and he wanted to help identify possible pedophiles. The student said he was "just looking to get someone" to nab, and it was allegedly Davies who messaged him once the photo of him as a female was downloaded from Snapchat and uploaded to various social media platforms, including Tinder and the messaging app Kik. 703

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Pacific Gas & Electric will plead guilty to 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter for a swath of death and destruction left behind after its fraying electrical grid ignited a 2018 wildfire that decimated three Northern California towns and drove the nation's largest utility into bankruptcy. The plea agreement announced Monday resolves the charges facing PG&E in Butte County for wildfires that killed 85 people and destroyed thousands of homes in the towns of Paradise, Magalia and Concow. No one from PG&E will go to jail for its felony crimes. Instead the company will pay a million fine and help pay to restore water access. In addition, PG&E has agreed to fund efforts to restore access to water for the next five years for residents impacted by the loss of the Miocene Canal, which was destroyed by the fire. PG&E CEO and President Bill Johnson made the following statement about the agreement: 956
