BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder, Colorado man reached out to KMGH, furious about the work done by a contractor hired through the popular online service Thumbtack, and the thousands of dollars he claims he lost. The more he dug into the service, the angrier he became. Keeping his windows clean is key for Larry Koenigsberg, considering he has amazing views from his home a hilltop community in Boulder."I can see a panoramic of the Flatirons, Pike's Peak when the sun rises in the morning," said Koenigsberg. "It’s like being on vacation every day between Colorado's 300 days of sunshine a year."Using popular online service Thumbtack, he hired Top Window Cleaning and paid the owner to clean several large windows, a skylight and a shower door. It wasn’t until the next day he realized they were damaged."The sun came shining in through all the south-facing windows, and I see all these scratches and I go outside and they're still dirty," said Koenigsberg.KMGH reached out to the owner of the window cleaning service. His attorney said no comment.Koenigsberg said that the owner of the company and the only employee came back to clean them again, hoping it was only dirt."So severe, it looked like a prism with all the blue and orange. Very deep the scratches," said Koenigsberg.After confronting the man, Koenigsberg said he only got another bill, not an apology. He went online to several sites to share his experience."I wanted a way of venting and letting other people know, and I put my review on there, but also I indicated that his intentions were good. I don't think that anybody sets out with intentions to scratch windows," said Koenigsberg.Koenigsberg said he learned Top Window Cleaning is not licensed in Colorado and the owner has a criminal history. He was the only entrepreneur to create three different Fortune 500 companies during his career -- Blockbuster video, Waste Management and AutoNation.At one time, Huizenga, 80, had owned three sports teams where he lived in South Florida -- the Florida Marlins, the Florida Panthers and the Miami Dolphins. He was worth .8 billion, according to Forbes."He had a magic ability to create a business that was unmatched," said AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson, who confirmed the death. "Ideas were exploding in his head. He was bound and determined to out entrepreneur every other entrepreneur."Huizenga was awarded expansion franchises to bring both the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball to Miami in 1993. The following year he purchased the Miami Dolphins. While he owned the three sports teams at the same time, he didn't run all three major companies simultaneously. "Then he rented a video and decided he could do better and next thing you know he was opening up Blockbuster store a day. BOULDER, Colo. -- Ashley Patchen is the studio owner of Alchemy of Movement. The tag line of the adult dance fitness studio is "Dance for Joy." It’s something she communicates daily through movement and her personality.As fun as running a dance studio may be, she’s had a lot of weight on her shoulders the past five months trying to keep her studio alive during a pandemic.“I knew that if I closed completely, I’d be letting a lot of people down,” Ashley Patchen said.When everything shut down across the nation in mid-March, it only took Patchen four days to start offering virtual dance classes.“I bought some teachers speakers for their houses, I gave people laptops, and I probably spent a full month trying to get the audio right.”All was donation-based, but Patchen says they were able to make about 70% of their normal revenue thanks to some generous people.“Some were in the form of people coming regularly and paying a class instead of . Or some of our teachers were going to each other’s classes and paying for those classes. And some of the teachers were donating their payroll back to the studio. And we had a few clients who donated large chunks,” Patchen said.Sarah Hershey who donated a lot of money says Alchemy of Movement has been a God-send in her life.“Years ago my grandma, when she passed away, left me a pretty sizeable amount of money that I always felt kind of guilty just being handed to me. So this kind of felt like a good opportunity to pay it forward and help people that I love and a place that I love in a way my grandma helped me,” Hershey said.So Patchen was able to continue offering virtual classes for two-and-a-half months. Then in May, when many of the quarantine restrictions were lifted in the state of Colorado, Ashley, dancers and instructors like Bethany Wilcox were eager to start in-person classes again.“It’s amazing. It’s just an awesome amount of energy that just infuses everything,” instructor Bethany Wilcox said.A majority of classes were shifted outside and boxes were drawn to ensure a 6-foot distance between people. Patchen was able to start charging for in-person classes again. But the donation-based virtual streaming continued for those who still felt it necessary to stay home.“I knew about half of our clients at least were not going to be coming in,” Patchen said.This month, Patchen was surprised to find out revenue has surpassed what it usually is in the middle of summer.“Usually our summers are like the slowest ever. And now that we’re doing the outdoor classes, everyone is like ‘yayyy, I love being outdoors! I love dancing! This is the best thing ever!’ So it’s actually worked out really well like a lot of people who cancel their membership in the summer are keeping it going because we have outdoor stuff.”Beyond these creative solutions to continue classes, Patchen says there’s one secret ingredient to why she thinks the studio has continued to thrive during this time.“We are strong because we are a community. And we have survived because we are a community. Our dancers love each other, and our teachers love each other, and they all support each other,” Patchen said.The dancers and instructors agree.“I like a lot of people don’t have a lot of family close by so this is definitely my second family, my dance family,” dancer Megan Ramirez said.“Honestly dance saved my mental stability during the pandemic," dancer Taylor Best-Anderson said. "Being able to just do Alchemy classes online for the first few months was really helpful. It was the only way I was really able to see my friends.”“It’s so nice to be with actual humans again!" instructor Ayla Satten said. "Ya know, you’re so used to your community and your sisterhood and then it gets ripped away from you, you miss it so much.”Patchen says she’s worried about the change in seasons several months down the road knowing classes outside may be more of a challenge. However, she plans to continue taking it month by month – finding some humor to stay positive amid the circumstances.“If you have the right mask it’s not that bad. BONITA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Sweetwater Bike Park in Bonita is the first of its kind for San Diego County parks, and it was a long time in the making."As an organization, we have been advocating for over 10 years for this type of park in the county, so we're thrilled," says Susie Murphy, the Executive Director of the San Diego Mountain Biking Association.The park opened in January, and riders of all ages and levels showed up on two wheels."On opening day, I like to say the youngest rider was seventeen months old, and the oldest was seventy-four. It's for all ages, from tiny kids on their Strider bikes, up to teenagers from the neighborhood on their BMX bikes," Murphy says.And Murphy says she loves the design of the park. It comes with jumps, two flow trails, and a skills zone."Every day it puts a smile on my face," Murphy says. Unfortunately, soon after the park opened, it had to be shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We did not know what to expect, it was definitely a disappointment," added Murphy.The park was closed for a couple of months, but is now back open for business, but with a few rule changes."Right now we're only letting fifty people come in at a time," says Park Ranger Adair Flores. "They are required to wear a mask when they come in and they do have to stay six feet apart from each other.
