A hit and run was reported over the weekend at a Trump rally in Cape Coral, Florida.The victim was transported to the hospital and was complaining of knee pain after claiming they were struck by a black Toyota Tundra. When the light changed, the driver, who was seen wearing a blonde wig, small top hat, and a red and black shirt, claims to have been in fear for their safety. Lifting their foot from the brake, the truck advanced forward making contact with the victim who fell to the driver's side of the truck. The driver claims to have seen the person but did not think they were stuck by the vehicle.Reports claim the victim was under the influence of alcohol.Cape Coral Police are investigating. A Southern Arizona school district is taking a creative approach to better sanitize the classroom daily.Santa Cruz Valley School District bought six Power Breezers that will disinfect a classroom in 20 minutes.Superintendent David Verdugo said the school district did this as a cost effective way to provide extra safety and security to students and staff.He said it will be used after school to clean empty classrooms, hallways and even school buses.Each unit costs about 4,500 dollars."This is an opportunity for them to look at a way to sanitize a room in a short period of time and utilize their staff but also be cost effective," Superintendent Verdugo said.He said the district is also requiring all students to wear masks, have their temperature checked, and social distance in and out of the classroom.Every classroom will only be at 50% capacity, meaning 15 desks per room, he said. In order to do this, the district came up with a hybrid approach to learning."There will be a group A and a group B," Superintendent Verdugo said. "The group A students will be on Monday. They will come to school, have their direct instruction and then they will be at home the next day. Then, group B will come to school, but they will still have some interaction that day with assignments and virtual opportunities."He said the district is planning on starting remote learning on August 3 and then the hybrid approach will being on August 31. Chris Christie remains hospitalized, but called a New Jersey newspaper editor from his hospital bed Monday morning, reportedly sounding raspy but not coughing — and fiery as ever.The former governor has struggled with asthma all his life, and announced on Twitter Saturday that he would check himself in to Morristown Medical Center on the advice of his doctors.Christie was seen outdoors in the White House Rose Garden hugging people without a mask last week. He also came in close contact with President Donald Trump and his staff when helping to prepare him for last week's debate."No one was wearing masks in the room when we were prepping the president during that period of time," Christie told Good Morning America. "The group was about five or six people in total."Monday, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wished his predecessor a speedy recovery."He and I have had private communications," said Murphy. "He is in our prayers and he knows that we're here for him."The state is currently working to contact trace 206 people who attended a Trump fundraiser at his private golf club in Bedminster last week. A Farmington Hills, Michigan, man is facing several charges accused of stealing from the unemployment insurance agency, then showboating his lavish lifestyle on social media with stacks of cash, luxury cars and appearing to brag to law enforcement.This is a brazen crime spree that started back in April. US Attorney Mathew Schneider says if you think you can steal from the government and not get caught, you’d better think again.“This unemployment fraud could be the largest fraud against the taxpayers in a generation,” Schneider said.Andre Taylor Jr., 27, of Farmington Hills, is charged with three counts of wire fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft and four counts of mail fraud after he allegedly defrauded the Michigan unemployment insurance agency, credit card companies and stole identities of area residents.“It’s stunning the amount of money that is being taken away from people who are unemployed,” Schneider said.Taylor is accused of filing unemployment claims in Michigan and other states. It’s alleged he had the state unemployment agencies send him 0 in prepaid credit cards, an additional weekly benefit during the pandemic for people out of work, and spent those gifts cards an Meijer, Kroger and other stores. He would even allegedly mailed some of the cards to his house and relatives.“When you’re unemployed and you need that money for yourself that goes to feed your family, there’s only so much money available and when people like this steal that money away, it really hurts the people of Michigan,” Schneider said.US Attorney Mathew Schneider says Taylor would then post pictures of mounds of cash, luxury cars and more on social media. Schneider says it wasn’t the feds who brought them this case, it was the USPS who say Taylor would bribe mail carriers to steal debit and credit cards along their routes.“In this case it was the US postal service. The postal inspection service. Those postal workers are doing a great job and now in our country we hear people talking bad things about the postal service; they’re the ones bringing us these cases,” Schneider said.Schneider says it’s disgusting to see people stealing from people who need the money the most, but promises they’re not done yet.“So, whether or not you’re going to brag about it on social media or not, we are going to follow the money trail until we track you down,” he said.This investigation is still in the early stages.
