HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Tampa strip club is suing a child sex trafficking victim — the latest development in a court battle involving the club where the victim says she was trafficked. Now the victim's mother is speaking out for the first time.Scores Gentleman's Club filed a countersuit in mid-July against the child sex trafficking victim, referred to in court documents as Jane Doe. The strip club's response comes six months after Jane Doe sued the business, accusing the club of hiring and exploiting her when she was 17 years old.The victim's mother, who was granted anonymity to protect her daughter's identity, says she's shocked the club took legal action against her daughter."I was disgusted and saddened, and I still can't believe it," the victim's mother said.The victim's lawsuit, filed in January, accuses the club of exploiting a minor with mental disabilities, stating she "was repeatedly touched, groped, molested and propositioned to engage in prostitution with explicit sex acts being proposed.""She was dancing, to her recollection of 15 to 30 minutes of her being hired there," the victim's mother said. "There are things she's experienced that she will never get over she has bad dreams, she has PTSD, she can't sleep at night."Luke Lirot, the attorney for Score's Gentlemen's Club, defended his decision to countersue Jane Doe for damages."She was absolutely competent enough to trick the people that work at my client's club," Lirot said.In the countersuit, the club says Jane Doe tricked them into hiring her by using a fake ID. It states she had "...full knowledge that the presentation of a fake ID was fraudulent and untrue, thus making an intentional misrepresentation."Lirot said the countersuit is the only way to get to the truth."To find this out sufficiently and to hold the people responsible that had deceived my clients, this was the only option I had," Lirot said.Jane Doe's attorney Michael Dolce said he plans to file a motion to dismiss the countersuit in Hillsborough County Court."You cannot legally blame a child abuse victim for their own abuse," Dolce said.Dolce filed the original case against the club. It states Jane Doe was brought to the club in 2017 by Robert Torres.According to court documents, employees at the club introduced her to drugs and alcohol. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have renounced their rights to their top 2020 draft pick after learning more about his bullying of a Black classmate four years ago.The team parted ways with Mitchell Miller after taking heat for selecting him in the fourth round earlier this month despite knowing of his 2016 assault conviction.Arizona acknowledged it knew about the incident when it selected Miller.President and CEO Xavier Gutierrez said discovering more about it, and the effect it had on bullying victim Isaiah Meyer-Crothers and his family led to this decision."We have decided to renounce the rights to Mitchell Miller, effective immediately," said Gutierrez in a press release. "Prior to selecting Mitchell in the NHL Draft, we were aware that a bullying incident took place in 2016. We do not condone this type of behavior but embraced this as a teachable moment to work with Mitchell to make him accountable for his actions and provide him with an opportunity to be a leader in anti-bullying and anti-racism efforts. We have learned more about the entire matter, and more importantly, the impact it has had on Isaiah and the Meyer-Crothers family. What we learned does not align with the core values and vision for our organization and leads to our decision to renounce our draft rights. On behalf of the Arizona Coyotes ownership and our entire organization, I would like to apologize to Isaiah and the Meyer-Crothers family. That’s one of the reason Sage student Miguel decided to sign up.“The money is really good, especially in this field — and I mean it’s just a lot to offer, benefits and money,” Miguel said.With a shortage of drivers, some companies are offering big signing bonuses for those considering driving. GRANT COUNTY, Ind. -- Two people are dead after two small planes crashed at an airport in Grant County Monday evening in Central Indiana.The crash happened around 5 p.m. at the Marion Municipal Airport off in Marion. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine Cessna 150 collided on the ground with a Cessna 525 CitationJet. Preliminary investigation indicates that the Cessna 150 was attempting to take off at 5:09 p.m. when it struck the tail of the Citation, which had just landed. "The airport in Marion does not have an air traffic control tower," the FAA said in a statement. "Pilots using the field are expected to announce their intentions on a common radio frequency and to coordinate with one another while on the ground and in the traffic pattern."The Cessna 150 was carrying two people and the Citation had five passengers on board. Grant County Coroner Chris Butche says two people were killed in the crash."FAA investigators are on their way to the scene, and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified," the FAA said in a statement to RTV6. Hospital nurses in Philadelphia are ready to go on strike amid a surge of coronavirus cases across the country, according to the union. The union said in a statement that 800 members of the union at St. Mary Medical Center are planning to picket on Tuesday and Wednesday. One of the main sticking points is minimum staffing levels, which is the proportion of patients to nurses in a hospital.“Safe staffing is the main issue in our negotiation--it's why we organized last year in the first place,” says Kathy McKamey R.N., who works on St Mary's MG2 unit and has been at the hospital for 10 years, said in a statement provided by the union. “Trinity has refused to commit to the minimal safe staffing guidelines every study out there has said improve patient outcomes. But the truth is, even if they had, we don't have the staff to fill them because our wage scale is so far below that of area hospitals. Nurses are literally fleeing to other hospitals 20 minutes away where they can make to more an hour. My unit alone has lost 20 nurses since January; the perioperative areas have lost 35 nurses in the last year. The grids are meaningless if you can't find nurses to fill the spots."Adding to nurses’ concern is the possibility of having to report to work while infected with the coronavirus.
