China and the Philippines signed 29 cooperation documents covering such areas as trade, investment, finance, agriculture, culture and the Belt and Road Initiative during President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the Southeast Asian country on Tuesday.
China aims to finish building a batch of scenic areas, resorts, towns and cities featuring technology-based smart tourism by the end of the year. The move is part of an effort to promote high-quality development of the sector, according to a guideline published on Nov 30.
China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co, a Shenzhen-based screen supplier to many smartphone makers including Xiaomi and TCL, also started building a 600,000-square-meter factory focusing on the manufacturing of flexible AMOLED screens in the zone since 2014.
China and Laos have been cooperating and assisting each other in different sectors, and the construction of roads and bridges can further boost relations between the two sides. Currently, many construction companies and infrastructure development projects in Laos have cooperated with the Chinese side, said the report.
China announced Friday that it is considering higher tariffs for imported US products worth about billion to balance losses caused by the US tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from China.
