However, after being on the verge of making that decision, the Board instead relented and approved the 9 million to build the current facility in Santee.Higgins says that while Edgemoor always had a great staff, the new building has made a big difference in the quality of care. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) — One man was killed in a shooting involving a Border Patrol officer Friday near the Las Americas Premium Outlets.Just before 6 p.m., a Border Patrol agent assigned to the San Diego Sector shot an unidentified 30-year-old man in the area of Dairy Mart Rd. and Camino De La Plaza, close to the international border, according to Aaron Heitke, Chief Patrol Agent with United States Border Patrol in San Diego.Heitke said the man was illegally trying to enter the U.S. west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.During the arrest, an altercation between the man and agent began, during which the agent fired his service weapon, striking the man in the torso, according to Heitke. The details surrounding what led to the fight haven’t been released at this time.The agent received minor injuries, according to San Diego Police. That agent is not being identified at this time, police added.At about 6:25 p.m., first responders pronounced the man dead, Heitke added. The victim has been identified but his name was not released. He was described as an adult Mexican national.SDPD officers were also called to the scene. SANTA ANA (CNS) - An Orange County pastor is due in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday on felony charges of molesting seven children ages 5 to 15.John Rodgers McFarland, who has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton since 2014, was arrested on a warrant Thursday charging him with seven counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor 14 to 15 years old.The 56-year-old Fullerton resident is accused of molesting the children between 2003 and 2017, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.McFarland, who's being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail, faces up to 179 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.RELATED: Pastor arrested by Escondido Police on suspicion of child molestationIn San Diego County, McFarland was arrested and charged in December with molesting a girl younger than 14 in Escondido between 2012 and 2013. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) — Several migrants were saved from a flooded San Ysidro storm drain in two separate rescues.The first rescue took place just before 11 p.m. Thursday. Border Patrol agents say they found three people trying to illegally enter the U.S. near a drainage tube about two miles west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The three people told agents that others were still inside the drain as heavy rainfall began to flood the tube.With the help of San Diego Fire-Rescue, one woman was quickly pulled to safety from the drainage tube before crews saved 13 more people through a manhole leading into the drain.RELATED: Teen found hiding in car dashboard at Calexico West Port of EntrySeven of those 17 people were taken to a nearby hospital.Then at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, border agents reported more migrants were possibly trapped in the same drain.
