VISTA, CA (KGTV) -- San Diego is known as the succulent capital of the world, and a recent Cal State San Marcos grad is taking advantage of it. While many small businesses are struggling due to the pandemic, Jessica Cain's succulent business is flourishing. It's called "in Succulent Love", where the plant artist creates with succulent and pumpkin."I just kind of play around with them, arrange them, and then commit to gluing them."And there is a good reason as to why she likes working with succulent. "Ii found such a cool fascination to the colors, shapes, and varieties," she says. Now when Jessica graduated from college, she thought she'd go into public relations. Little did she know that her hobby would become her career."I actually started creating succulent pumpkins with my grandmother every fall as a hobby. I just posted some photos on social media my first year out of college, and it just blew up."So just a couple of years out of college and her hobby turned into an online store called "in Succulent Love. She also hosts teaching workshops, and she has even written a book titled "Stylish Succulent Designs.""I like to call it a succulent cookbook. It's 40 different do it yourself plant projects, primarily focused on succulent, and how to create them."Now what she did not expect was the COVID-19 pandemic. And while other businesses have struggled, hers has done just the opposite. "That's why it's been so popular during COVID because people are wanting activities to do at home that are not necessarily puzzles and bread baking, and really creating new hobbies and memories."Jessica is making plenty of memories in a career that she says took her by surprise. "Ii had no idea what to expect. I just kind of say this life chose me. This succulent has just totally blossomed into this crazy dream." 1830

Walmart and Target are being sued for allegedly selling toys with lead levels up to 10 times more than the federal limit of 100 parts per million, New York Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood announced on Thursday. According to a statement released by Underwood's office, the AG's office was able to find Cra-Z-Jewelz jewelry-making kits from stores. The kits allegedly contained lead at levels of 120 to 980 parts per million. The Attorney General's office had further independent testing done to confirm the results. The toy's maker, LaRose Industries, which is also a plaintiff in the New York lawsuit, issued a national recall. Underwood's office is accusing Walmart, Target and LaRose of "repeated illegality and fraud under New York State law by committing thousands of violations of state law prohibitions on importing, distributing, and selling hazardous toys; deceiving consumers; and false advertising."Underwood's office is seeking civil penalties of  to ,000 for each Cra-Z-Jewelz kit the companies sought to sell in the state.“No parent should have to worry that their child’s toy may be toxic. As we allege, these companies imported and sold toys with dangerous levels of toxic lead – jeopardizing the health of New York’s children and breaking the law,” Underwood said in a statement. “Our lawsuit seeks to hold these companies accountable for the failures that allowed lead-contaminated toys on store shelves, while forcing them to take responsibility for the safety of the products they sell.”The suit also seeks to force the companies to adhere to higher quality control standards to prevent toys with high lead levels from being purchased. The CDC says that lead in children's blood has been shown to affect IQ, ability to pay attention, and academic achievement. The CDC added that children under the age of 6 years old are at most risk of lead poisoning.  1936

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fervent supporters of President Donald Trump have rallied and marched in Washington behind his spurious claim of a stolen election. And Trump fans swarmed his motorcade when he detoured for a drive-by on his way out of town. Anthony Whittaker of Winchester, Virginia, says he came to help keep up Trump's spirits and to "let him know we support him."RELATED: Homeland Security agency: 2020 election was the ‘most secure in American history’It was a week ago when the race was called for Democrat Joe Biden. But Saturday's crowd of a few thousand was taking its cue from a president who's been unrelenting in asserting he won an election he actually lost.Trump persists even as Homeland Security officials declared that the Nov. 3 election went smoothly with no more than the usual minor hiccups, saying it was “the most secure in American history."RELATED: Posts falsify ties between Dominion Voting Systems and DemocratsBiden received 78,631,412 votes and is projected to take 290 electoral votes, compared to 72,907,402 votes and 232 electoral votes for Trump, the AP projects. 1105
