SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County health officials say they are taking aggressive measures to contain a flu outbreak at San Diego's migrant shelter. "Had we not taken these steps these migrant families would have been released by ICE at bus stops or transit centers without the medical screenings, without the treatment, without the attention, and without the help and support that we have provided. This could have proved disastrous for our region," said Fletcher. Fletcher says while they don't know how many people may develop flu-like symptoms in the days and weeks ahead, they are actively monitoring the population. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities Monday identified a man who died after falling from an East Village building he was trying to paint with graffiti. Alejandro Vazquez Paz, 28, died after falling from a building on the 1500 block of E Street, according to San Diego County’s Medical Examiner. The incident was reported around 8:30 in the morning after transients in the area flagged down police, leading them to the abandoned building. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Carlsbad leaders this week approved nearly 0,000 to construct a new trail planned to loop around the city's strawberry fields.Carlsbad City Council voted to add the Hub Park trail to the city's Capital Improvement Program, a 2.4-mile trail on the south shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in an area dubbed "Hub Park."Hub Park sits on land owned by SDG&E. Gavin Newsom, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee put the advisories into action for their respective states on Friday. The announcement comes as travel is expected to ramp up for the holidays.The advisories urge “visitors entering their states or returning home from travel outside these states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus. The travel advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local.”CALIFORNIA TRAVEL ADVISORY ANNOUNCEMENTIn addition to the self-quarantine, the advisories recommend travelers “limit their interactions to their immediate household. The advisories define essential travel as travel for work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care and safety and security.”Newsom said in a news release, “Travel increases the risk of spreading COVID-19, and we must all collectively increase our efforts at this time to keep the virus at bay and save lives.”Brown added, “COVID-19 does not stop at state lines. As hospitals across the West are stretched to capacity, we must take steps to ensure travelers are not bringing this disease home with them. If you do not need to travel, you shouldn’t.
