LONDON (AP) — Lawyers representing the family of Peter Green, the dexterous blues guitarist who led the first incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in a career shortened by psychedelic drugs and mental illness, say he has died. The law firm, Swan Turton said he had died in his sleep this weekend at the age of 73. Green, to some listeners, was the best of the British blues guitarists of the 1960s.B.B. King once said Green “has the sweetest tone I ever heard. He was the only one who gave me the cold sweats.”Green also made his mark as a composer with “Albatross,” and as a songwriter with “Oh Well” and “Black Magic Woman.” 625

LONDON (AP) — AstraZeneca and Oxford University have acknowledged a manufacturing error that is raising questions about preliminary results of their COVID-19 vaccine.A statement Wednesday describing the error came days after the company and the university described the shots as “highly effective” and made no mention of why some participants didn’t receive as much vaccine as expected. In a surprise, the group of volunteers that got half a dose in the first of their two shots seemed to be better protected than the volunteers who got full doses. The low-dose group was smaller and younger, however, which could have skewed the results, experts say.In a statement obtained by CNN, Oxford elaborated further, saying that a “difference in the manufacturing process” had led to the error. The university said that it discussed the problem with regulators, agreed to complete the late stage trial with two groups, and the problem has since been corrected. 959

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lawyers for a church with more than 160 congregations across California say they will seek an immediate court order allowing indoor worship after the Supreme Court told a lower federal court to reexamine state coronavirus restrictions on church services. The victory Thursday for Pasadena-based Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry follows a recent high court ruling in favor of churches and synagogues in New York. “The bottom line result is that where the court needs to go is inevitable,” said Attorney Mathew Staver, who represents the church. “What the court did last week and what they did today, it’s a whole new landscape and I think they’ve telegraphed quite clearly the direction they’re going.”RELATED: San Diego County issues COVID-19 outbreak notices for two more Awaken Church locationsThe Supreme Court order came the day after restaurants gained some traction in their challenge to a Los Angeles County ban on outdoor dining.
