YUBA CITY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two crop-dusting planes have crashed in midair over a Northern California rice field, killing both pilots. The Sutter County Sheriff's Office says the single-engine Grumman Ag Cats were seeding the field at the time of Wednesday's collision. The pilots died at the scene north of Sacramento. They're identified as 63-year-old Brian VanDyke of Rio Oso and 59-year-old Burton Haughey of Wheatland.Authorities say Haughey was found inside his aircraft and VanDyke was found on the ground outside his wrecked plane. There's no immediate word on what caused the crash but the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate. 666

– is an organization working to advance gender equity for women and girls. “Overall, the gender pay gap is 82 cents on the dollar right now from the most recent research this Fall of 2019. That means on average full-time working women earn 82 cents on the dollar compared to men working full time,” AAUW CEO Kim Churches said. According to Churches, the gender pay gap extends to every industry and the higher a job is in pay, the larger the gap typically is. “So the gender pay gap really is that when you have equal skills and equal educational levels, and yet women are paid systemically less than their male colleagues,” Churches said. Churches says part of the problem is that women have been historically steered toward a certain type of career that’s typically underpaid, like teaching or social work. However, she says women are still being offered less money when entering traditionally male-dominated professions. The same can't be said when the roles are reversed. “Nursing is a great example of that. More men have been entering the nursing field, and yet there’s still an 8 percent pay gap. Meaning once men entered, they were out-earning their female colleagues,” Churches said. So why is this happening? Besides traditional bias, Churches says states that haven’t updated laws are using salary history to determine future salary and women are often less likely to negotiate pay. With more dual-income parents today and more women becoming the breadwinner of their family, Churches says there needs to be updated policies, employers have to improve their practices, and women must feel empowered to navigate their own financial futures. “Frankly this is not just a women’s issue, it’s about economic security for families,” Churches said. Families that many young women hope to have. “The wage gap is supposed to close in 2048, and that is not ok. It should be now. It should have been a while ago. So I think our hope is that with awareness it can speed up and it can close faster than that,” Worden said. The girls’ story has helped to sell 0,000 worth of “equal pay” jerseys with the proceeds going toward promoting women’s economic equality.  2169

from a mural after the "hidden" message caused a stir online. The mural, titled "The Devil Is in the Details," was created by New York-based artist ELLE as part of Lexington art collective PRHBTN's annual street art festival. The festival has brought dozens of large-scale works to the city. The colorful piece on the side of a building near Short and Church streets depicts the faces for four women and a snake emerging from a can of spray-paint.But it also contained what the artist said was supposed to be a hidden message: "F*** Trump."By Tuesday night, the words had been spray-painted over. The building's owner confirmed that he had ordered the words be covered up after news of the explicit message caused a stir online.Earlier, the artist said the words were supposed to be invisible unless shown under a blacklight. But for some reason, the special paint didn't dry clear. She also released a statement about the work."In America we are all entitled to share our opinion, and it's important to exercise this right," her statement read, in part. "Let me be clear, this is not about politics, this is about expressing my anger: I am fed up!""I'm not trying to make people angry. I'm trying to make people talk," ELLE said Tuesday. After the words were covered up, she took to her social media accounts to criticize the move, saying: "Free speech isn't a thing in Trump Territory." 1387

Wreckage from the USS Lexington -- a US aircraft carrier sunk by the Japanese during World War II -- has been discovered 500 miles off the Australian coast by a team of explorers led by billionaire Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder announced on Monday. One of the first US aircraft carriers ever built, the vessel dubbed "Lady Lex" was located at the bottom of the Coral Sea -- nearly two miles below the surface -- by the expedition crew of Research Vessel Petrel on Sunday, Allen said. The Lexington was lost in May 1942 along with 216 of its crew and 35 aircraft during what is considered the first carrier battle in history -- the Battle of the Coral Sea."To pay tribute to the USS Lexington and the brave men that served on her is an honor," Allen said in a statement. "As Americans, all of us owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who served and who continue to serve our country for their courage, persistence and sacrifice."Along with the USS Yorktown, the Lexington and its fleet faced off against three Japanese aircraft carriers and is credited with helping to stop Japan's advances on New Guinea and Australia. The battle occurred just one month before the US Navy "surprised Japanese forces at the Battle of Midway and turned the tide of the war in the Pacific for good," according to Allen."The Battle of the Coral Sea was notable not only for stopping a Japanese advance but because it was the first naval engagement in history where opposing ships never came within sight of each other," read the statement from Allen.US ships were able to rescue more than 2,000 sailors before the Lexington ultimately sank from the damage sustained from a bombardment of Japanese torpedoes."As the son of a survivor of the USS Lexington, I offer my congratulations to Paul Allen and the expedition crew of Research Vessel (R/V) Petrel for locating the "Lady Lex," sunk nearly 76 years ago at the Battle of Coral Sea," Navy Adm. Harry B. Harris of US Pacific Command said Monday in a statement."We honor the valor and sacrifice of the 'Lady Lex's' sailors -- all those Americans who fought in World War II -- by continuing to secure the freedoms they won for all of us," he said. 2190

-- a tumor that can block blood flow to a child's heart. Michael's tumor is 5 centimeters, or about 2 inches, wide. That's enormous compared to a baby's tiny heart, which is about the size of their fist.Doctors told the family Michael's condition is so rare that no surgeon in the United Kingdom would have the expertise to remove his tumor.Emma said the family was given two options: either wait in line for a heart transplant or find a surgeon outside the country. That's when they found out about Boston Children's Hospital, a US facility whose 548
