(KGTV) - The city of Oceanside is moving forward with new medical marijuana regulations.Oceanside City Council approved regulating the manufacturing of medical marijuana and cultivation, but continued barring new dispensaries.The proposal allows the testing, cultivation and sale of medical marijuana within city limits.Oceanside currently allows the delivery and consumption of medical marijuana in private residences.City leaders had been eying the measure since the end of last year when they formed an ad-hoc committee for the cannabis regulations.The proposal will go back for a second reading, and would go into effect after 30 days from then.   669

(KGTV) - The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced plans Monday to close for half a day in July to conduct employee customer service training. Operation Excellence: DMV Training will “equip employees with the tools they need to handle an unprecedented volume of REAL ID applications,” said DMV officials. Californians will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, or passport, to fly in the U.S. starting Oct. 1, 2020. RELATED: If you don't have a star on your license, flying will become more difficult for you in 2020“The unprecedented complexity of the REAL ID requirements is what led to the idea that we needed to take the extraordinary step of closing DMV offices for a short time to make sure all employees have consistent information in order to complete the transactions successfully,” said Government Operations Agency Secretary Marybel Batjer, who is leading the DMV Strike Team. “It is a complicated transaction and we want customers to be well prepared in order to receive their REAL ID efficiently.” Training sessions for more than 5,000 workers will take place at 183 DMV field offices, commercial drive test centers, and industry business centers statewide. “Our employees are at the heart of every transaction we perform,” said Kathleen Webb, DMV acting director. “With this commitment to training, we can ensure they have the proper tools, knowledge, and experience to provide excellent customer service to the people of California.” RELATED: California's REAL ID requirements now accepted by government“Field offices need to be prepared for at least a doubling of customer volume as the enforcement date approaches,” said DMV officials. (KGTV) - More than 150 Coachella concert-goers had to face the music after fraudulently using disabled parking placards or parking spaces.Indio Police checked nearly 2,000 placards during the two-weekend run of Coachella Valley Music Festival. At least 135 guests were cited for fraudulent using placards and another 18 were cited for using disabled parking without a permit.The ratio was less than the previous year, according to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, dropping from one in every 13 people to one in every seven.RELATED: Earthquake felt by Coachella attendees during music festival's final dayThose who abuse use of the placard can have their placard confiscated, receive a misdemeanor citation, and be fined anywhere from 0 to ,000.The violation also appears on offenders' driving record."When someone misuses a disabled person parking placard, it impedes the mobility of our disabled community," said Jean Shiomoto, DMV Director. “I’m asking all able-bodied Californians to save the space." 1033

  

(KGTV) – Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor was unable to start Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs after his lung was reportedly punctured on accident by a team doctor during pregame treatment.Sources told ESPN that Taylor was suffering from cracked ribs and a team doctor inadvertently punctured his lung while trying to administer a pain-killing injection.Taylor suffered his rib injury during last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.Citing sources, ESPN reported the NFL Players Association is investigating the incident. Doctors have advised Tyrod Taylor not to play "indefinitely” due to his punctured lung.
