SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As police ramp up their probe, an Otay Mesa dog owner believes his dog may also have been targeted by a pepper spray-wielding mail carrier.The owner of 9-year-old Roscoe didn't want identified, but he tells 10news about two months ago - moments after their mail carrier left - Roscoe started to twitch in pain, which lasted minutes. He say Roscoe was behind a gate and not a threat to the postal carrier. Hours later, the dog's eyes were still red. The dog's owner didn't report it, but says another neighbor complained about a similar occurrence. Both of their homes are just blocks from the Galindo home on Agosto Street."Makes me feel angry and so sad that he's causing so much pain," said Alfonso Galindo.Earlier this week, he spoke to 10news about the strange stains on his patio that prompted him to check his surveillance video. He watched the unbelievable unfold: a postal carrier appearing to hold pepper spray under the mail, as he walked by a metal gate. Behind the gate is his 7-year-old rescue Pupa. At the same time, Pupa begins convulsing for minutes."Sickening. It's scary how nonchalant he is. He's done this before," said Galindo.Galindo says he found nine similar incidents in the recordings on his hard drive, about a month's worth. The Postal Service issued an apology, saying the 'appropriate action' will be taken."That left me with a question. Is this person going to be retrained and put back on my route? That's not going to cut it," said Galindo.There are also more questions about the impact on his two young children, who are constantly touching and hugging Pupa. For months, they've suffered mysterious respiratory issues, requiring frequent trips to the hospital. On Wednesday, both were diagnosed with asthma. Galindo says more tests need to be done, but doctors believe the pepper spray could be the cause, and at the minimum, is an aggravating factor."I'm scared to find out where this could take my children. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A driver was taken into custody after a passenger in his car died following in a crash in Paradise Hills early Wednesday morning.According to San Diego police, an 18-year-old driver and four passengers were in a car traveling westbound in the 6100 block of Paradise Valley Road at around 2 a.m. when the crash occurred.Police said the driver tried to make “an unsafe left” onto southbound Munda Road, but the car veered off the roadway and went down an embankment.All five people were able to get out of the car and made their way back to the street, but police said an 18-year-old girl had to be taken to the hospital.The girl, who was not identified, later died at the hospital from internal injuries.The driver fled the scene, but officers -- with the help of a helicopter overhead -- found him hiding in bushes a few blocks away surrounded by coyotes.Jail records obtained by ABC 10News show the driver, identified as 18-year-old Eduardo Douglas Jones, was booked on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run causing death/injury, and DUI.The crash remains under investigation. 1119

SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNN) - Actor Will Ferrell is ‘grateful’ for well wishes received after a car crash on Interstate 5 in Orange County Thursday night."While traveling back to Los Angeles after hosting a voter registration event in San Diego, a car carrying Will Ferrell and three of his colleagues was struck on the freeway by another vehicle," read a statement Ferrell's representatives from United Talent Agency.Ferrell and another passenger were "unhurt" and were released from an Orange County hospital, according to UTA.RELATED: Will Ferrell rushed to hospital after crash on I-5Ferrell's longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and his another passenger, identified as Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition, the statement said.Ferrell is "staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them," the statement added.Ferrell, 50, was a passenger in an SUV that overturned during a two-car accident late Thursday at Alicia Parkway in Mission Viejo, according to an accident report from the California Highway Patrol.According to the accident report, Ferrell's vehicle was struck when another car veered into its lane. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 17-year-old boy accused of killing a Carlsbad woman on a popular hiking trail denied the allegations against him during a virtual arraignment Thursday morning.Through his attorney, the teen denied all allegations. He faces charges in connection with the Nov. 23 death of 68-year-old Lisa Thorborg.Thorborg was on a morning walk at Hosp Grove Trail when Carlsbad police investigators said she was attacked and stabbed to death.On Dec. 14, Carlsbad police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in the case. Little information on the teen was released, but police noted the suspect is a Carlsbad resident.Thorborg's death struck a chord with many in the community. In the days following her death, a large group came to honor her by finishing the walk she started.The woman’s death also left many neighbors upset and concerned about their safety while on that trail.During Thursday’s arraignment, the judge also granted the teen's request to two phone calls -- one to his Mom, the other to his grandmother.ABC 10News learned Thorborg’s family was also listening to the hearing through the phone.Another hearing in the case is set for Dec. 22. 1173
