SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Want to make more money? Workforce analyst site Glassdoor is breaking down the highest paying jobs and where to find them. The survey was based on salary reports shared by employees with the jobs over the past year.Tech jobs make up 13 of the top salaried positions. There are also five health care jobs on the list.“The fact that employers are paying top dollar for many tech and health care jobs reinforces how demand for these valuable skillsets continues to outpace the supply of talent with these expertises,” said Glassdoor Economic Research Analyst Amanda Stansell. “We know that salary matters a lot to job seekers when determining where to work, but it should not be the only factor to consider. We’ve found that company culture and values, career opportunities and trust in senior leadership matter most when it comes to keeping employees satisfied in their jobs long-term.”The hottest high-paid job in San Diego? San Diego (KGTV) - Thousands of kids across California approved for in-home nursing care are struggling to get the help they desperately need.On Thursday two children filed a class-action lawsuit against the California Department of Health Care Services and its director claiming the state has failed to fulfill its commitment to provide them with sufficient Medi-Cal in-home nursing services. It says, “this class action lawsuit asks the Court to order Defendants to take all steps necessary to arrange for previously-approved, medically necessary in-home shift nursing services for Plaintiffs and Class members.”According to the lawsuit plaintiff, Ivory N. is a seven-year-old and a Medi-Cal beneficiary. It says the child needs 63 hours per week of skilled nursing at home but only receives about 56 hours per week. The non-profit group, Disability Rights California, says more than 4,000 Medi-Cal eligible children have been approved by the state to receive Medi-Cal in-home nursing care, but the state lacks an effective system for arranging for needed nursing."It’s too bad that a lawsuit had to be filed, but they are right to file it because right now that need is not being met,” said California State Assemblyman Brian Maienschein. In 2017 Maienschein tried to get the problem fixed through legislation. He believes the state is not following through on its promises to the kids.“It was a significant victory last year that we were able to get money in the budget, but they are still not following through on the promises they made,” he said.According to a news release from Disability Rights California, “29 percent of authorized Medi-Cal nursing hours go unstaffed.” 1693

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — University of San Diego is sidelining its plans to return to some form of on-campus classes this fall unless given approval by state and local officials.A statement from USD President James Harris read that due to the rising number of cases locally and in California, as well as the lack of reopening guidance for colleges, they will offer remote learning for all fall undergraduate and graduate courses. The undergraduate semester is still set to begin on Aug. 17, according to the school."At the time of my original announcement, the number of daily cases of COVID-19 in San Diego County was approximately 100, and given the shut-down order then in place, we were optimistic the situation would be much improved by the Fall," Harris' statement read. "Instead, the number of daily cases skyrocketed, and San Diego is now averaging more than 400 cases per day."With less than a month to go before we begin Fall classes for undergraduates, we have reached the point where a final decision has to be made."Originally, the campus planned to offer in-person courses as part of a hybrid approach to the academic year. USD says it can still pivot to the planned hybrid model if conditions improve. The school added that the campus will also continue to offer students options for remote or in-person classes when they receive permission to move forward with the plan."The good news is that all of the great work of the task forces preparing for the Fall will benefit us as we move forward. Due to their continuing efforts, we are prepared to pivot to our planned hybrid approach of both in-person and remote instruction when conditions improve and allow us to do so," according to USD. "The timing for a transition to our hybrid approach will be determined by future guidance from State and County officials." 1829
