(AP) — California authorities have returned a pet tortoise to its owner after the wandering animal was spotted in another resident's backyard.The Record Searchlight reported the 41-year-old tortoise named Dino ambled away after a storm blew open the latch on its outdoor enclosure in Red Bluff.An animal regulation officer says the tortoise was found about a half-mile (0.8 kilometers) from the home of owner Cindy Haase.Authorities used watermelon to lure the 150-pound (68-kilogram) tortoise before lifting it into a vehicle for transport.Tehama County sheriff's deputies and the state forestry and fire protection department helped return Dino to Haase.Tortoise Acres Rescue and Sanctuary owner Katie Hoffman says this is breeding season and roaming pet tortoises seeking companionship are "a daily occurrence this time of year." 856

Diane Black of Tennessee recently cited pornography as a contributing factor to gun violence in schools."How many of you when you were in school ever had an experience where a kid came to school with a gun?... Never happened. So we say, 'Why?' ... Why do we see kids being so violent? What's out there? What makes them do that?" RACINE, Wisconsin -- Manufacturer SC Johnson announced Wednesday that between 300 and 400 positions in the company would be eliminated due to an organizational change.The change was first announced to employees back in January, according to a statement from the company. Some of the eliminated roles were already open and will not be filled, while others will result in employees losing their jobs."Many affected employees" were notified Wednesday, the statement says."The company is healthy and our brands continue to be leaders in their categories," said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President – Global Corporate Affairs, Communication & Sustainability. "Other leading consumer packaged goods companies are doing the same as we all continue to respond to trends in the marketplace. President Donald Trump attempted to make an unannounced visit to the demilitarized zone between North Korea and South Korea, but had to turn back because of bad weather. He was aboard Marine One en route when they had to return, according to reporters traveling with him.Trump was disappointed and pretty frustrated he had to turn back on the attempted visit to the zone, known as the DMZ, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.He was to join South Korean President Moon Jae-in as a symbol of a strong alliance. RANCHO PENASQUITOS -- A group of residents in Rancho Pe?asquitos is sounding the alarm about a trio of dense developments that could add 1,500 housing units within 1.5 miles of each other.The group, called PQ-NE Action, notes the northwest part of Rancho Pe?asquitos only has one road in and out. They are raising concerns that the road could not handle the influx in the case of an emergency, such as a wildfire evacuation. "We fully understand things are going to change, but not change to a point where the neighborhood becomes threatened from a safety standpoint," said Junaid Razvi, a 40-year resident and spokesman for the group. Meanwhile, Lennar is proposing to build more than 530 new housing units on the hotel's old golf course.PQ-NE Action is now calling on Councilman Mark Kersey to step in.
