An irate homeowner in Louisiana who armed himself with a handgun and chased down a group of teenagers after they rolled his house is behind bars for aggravated assault.The armed confrontation came in response to what Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker said was the group of teens “yearly ritual of ‘rolling or toilet papering’ of homes of fellow students” in the early morning hours of October 27.Craig Scott apparently didn’t think it was funny.Scott armed himself with a semiautomatic handgun and chased down the group of teens, according to Sticker.After he caught up to the group in another section of the neighborhood, Scott pulled his vehicle across the road to block their exit, got out, and confronted the teens with his handgun.Scott was arrested on November 2 and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and obstruction of a roadway.“Though he had ample opportunity, Mr. Scott never once called 911 or requested police assistance,” Sticker said. “The end clearly did not justify the means this situation.”The teens still may face charges, since “rolling” a house is technically considered criminal mischief, according to Sticker. 1163

ARVADA, Colo. — An 11-year-old girl penned a letter to Santa filled with heartache, asking him to stop her “sadness” after losing her father and grandmother in a house fire over the summer.Brooklynn Alexander, 11, wrote her Christmas wish and dropped off her letter in Santa’s mailbox in her hometown of Arvada.Amber Klein built the mailbox to ensure Santa received every letter written by kids in Arvada before Christmas.“Every night, I send the letters off to Santa,” Klein said.While helping Santa read through the letters, Klein came across Brooklynn’s wish, a heartfelt letter raw with pain.“Santa, I’ve been suffering from depression and my anger issues have been bad lately. So, what I am trying to say is — I shouldn’t get presents and can you please stop my sadness,” Klein read in the letter.In July, a fire tore through Brooklynn's home, killing her father and grandmother. A neighbor rescued her from inside. She was put on a ventilator and spent more than a week at the hospital. The pain and anguish Brooklynn feels brought memories of Klein’s dad rushing back.“My dad passed away in a house fire and I just immediately wanted to protect her,” Klein said.Klein took to Facebook to track down Brooklynn. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced during a news conference Wednesday that local governments now have the ability, if they so choose, to mandate masks in their cities.The move comes as healthcare workers and many city leaders across the state called for the governor to make it a statewide requirement to wear masks in public to prevent the spread of coronavirus.Ducey said during the press conference that the amount of positive cases and the percentage of positive cases per test varies greatly by city and county across the state. Therefore, he says he is choosing to leave it up to local governments whether or not to mandate masks.Ducey did not clarify how exactly each local government could implement a mandate on masks, but Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego tweeted that the Phoenix City Council would vote on a mandate on the upcoming agenda.When asked about how the use of masks would be enforced, Ducey said that would be left up to the mayors to decide.Ducey also announced during the press conference that 300 National Guard members will be called upon to help with contact tracing across the state.A spokesman for the governor has said, "addressing COVID-19 remains our highest priority.
