BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Flights have resumed at Beijing Capital International Airport after a thunder storm hit the city at 8 p.m. Sunday causing disruptions, the airport announced on its website.The storm had delayed a total of 170 out-bound flights and canceled 25 fights as of 9 p.m., according to the announcement.The airport suspended flights at 7:40 p.m. Sunday due to the storm, which stopped at about 9:30 p.m..The National Meteorological Center forecast heavy rain for central Hunan, eastern Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Fujian provinces as the country begins Monday its three-day national holiday.Thunder storms are forecast for Inner Mongolia, the northeast, and the north during the next three days.

BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Li Changchun called for stepped-up efforts to reform the countries cultural sector at a meeting held recently and joined by publicity and culture chiefs from China's central government.Li also urged more progress to be made in the development and prosperity of China's cultural industries.Li, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presided over the meeting. State Councilor Liu Yandong and Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting.

  

BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) voiced its support on Saturday for journalists' rights of supervision after a reporter was beaten when attempting to interview a stand-up comedian."It is imperative to safeguard journalists' legitimate rights to interview and stop any misconduct that interferes with journalists' legitimate interviews," read a brief announcement posted on the ACJA's website."To have supervision in accordance with the law is the legitimate rights of news organizations," it added.The move came after Zhou Wenfu, a Beijing Television (BTV) reporter, was repeatedly punched Sunday when attempting to interview Guo Degang, China's most famous stand-up comedian at his villa, according to clips of the beating that have been widely circulated on the Internet and broadcast on BTV.Zhou was trying to verify reports that Guo had illegally extended his property onto the public green space.
