SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – After an abrupt cancellation, a firefighting camp aimed at empowering young women has been rescheduled, according to the San Diego Mayor’s office. In a statement to 10News, Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s spokesperson Greg Block wrote:“This camp is about having fun and introducing young people to the possibilities of a rewarding career in firefighting. Families have been looking forward to this event for weeks, and Mayor Faulconer is not going to allow the threat of a lawsuit stop it from happening. The Mayor has directed staff to reschedule the camp as soon as possible and we will share more details soon.” 638

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid ongoing dockless scooter injuries, Mayor Kevin Faulconer Thursday proposed new rules for the devices.The new rules would force companies that provide the dockless scooters to educate riders, provide data to the city, enforce speed limits and purchase permits.Riders would also be required to sign away any of the city’s legal liability should something happen.Speed limits would need to be enforced by the companies using “geofencing technology,” Faulconer said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Airbnb is warning would-be party-goers this Halloween that weekend parties at San Diego listings are banned and guests could face legal action if they violate the policy.The rental booking platform banned parties at all of its listings in August and capped occupancy at 16 people as a precaution due to the pandemic. Airbnb has also banned one-night reservations over the Halloween weekend across the country."The great majority of guests are respectful of our hosts’ homes and neighbors, and we understand that this initiative will disrupt many one-night reservations that might not have led to parties. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A woman was left laying in a gutter with a broken pelvis in Pacific Beach after a vehicle hit her and fled the scene Friday.San Diego Police say the 27-year-old woman was walking in the area of 4300 Ingraham St. at about 11:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound hit her. The vehicle fled the scene, leaving the woman in a gutter on the street when officers arrived, SDPD said.RELATED: Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run near Brown Field in Otay MesaThe woman was taken to the hospital with a fractured pelvis and multiple abrasions.There was no description of the vehicle, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - After 27 years, Mysterious Galaxy, a popular sci-fi bookstore in the Clairemont area, may have to close its doors.In a post on the store's website, the owners say they are looking for a buyer to take over the store on Balboa Avenue and move it, as their lease expires in 60 days. "It is with heavy hearts that we share that unless a new buyer and new location are found immediately, Mysterious Galaxy will be forced to close its doors," reads the post.Manager Kelly Orazi says it's "devastating" to see the store shut down.RELATED: Sears, Kmart stores slated for closure in months ahead, company says"We're a hub for people who love books," she says. "(People) Who love reading, who love writing.
