Do you prefer to select your numbers when playing the lottery? Well, if you’re opting to select your own numbers for the Mega Millions drawing, there are some numbers that win the most. The first Mega Millions drawing was in September of 1996.  Since then, there have been more than 2,200 drawings.According to Lottonumbers.com--a website that analyzes lottery numbers--the number drawn the most is the number 2. It's been picked 219 times. The second most picked numbers were 17 and 31. Followed by 39 and then 4 and 46.Something to keep in mind: the game started with 50 numbers in the drawing in 1996. More numbers were added on in 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2013.Presently, there are 75 numbers to choose from and can be configured into nearly 300 million possible combinations for winning. The yellow ball is the one that matters, so you may think about selecting the number 3.It has been chosen the most; 89 times in the more than 2,000 draws. There are also numbers that were drawn the least. Those include 72, 71, and 67. Those numbers have been drawn fewer than 25 times. When it comes to the Mega Millions number, 51 has been chosen only once! But keep in mind that the higher numbers were just added to the drawing in the last few years. 1249

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A grieving dog owner says a routine surgery turned deadly after his dog suffered burns during a brief stay.In early May, John San Filippo brought 11-year-old Sofia, a Boxer mix, to the Bastet Veterinary Hospital for knee surgery."Dropped her off in the morning and picked up her up in the afternoon. She was doing great," said San Filippo.Six days after the surgery, San Filippo found several oozing sores on her right side. The vet told him the electric blanket used to warm Sofia had somehow burned her. "I was stunned, but at that point, it was just three little spots," said San Filippo.Within weeks, the full extent of the burns emerged: 3rd- and 4th-degree burns on over 40% of her body. Sofia developed sepsis and pneumonia, before she died in early June."Just broke down crying ... brought her in for knee surgery and my dog was barbecued," said San Filippo. San Filippo has filed a complaint with the State Veterinary Medical Board and wants the business shut down.Bastet Veterinary Hospital released the following statement: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sofia, which was a result of thermal burns derived from the malfunction of our patient warming system. We are committed to working with all involved parties to help recoup financial losses, and our hearts grieve along with Sofia'a family for their loss."Experts suggest asking your veterinarian about how they warm animals during anesthesia. Safer alternatives include circulating air or water systems. 1513

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Neighbors say two elderly residents of the Lincoln Palms Apartment in El Cajon were taken to the hospital Wednesday, after an explosion on Lincoln Avenue. New resident Jorge Limon told 10News Reporter Rina Nakano he and his grilfriend Samantha were unpacking when they noticed an odd smell. Later, they heard what sounded like two explosions. "We thought somebody threw a table out of the window or something. But then we saw the smoke and fire," Limon said, adding that he immediately grabbed his fire extinguisher to help.  The explosion happened on the first floor of the building around 8 p.m., just below Limon's new apartment.Fire crews arrived four minutes after the 911 call, but were surprised to see that the flames were already out when they arrived. With his extinguisher, Limon was able to put out the flames. The explosion shattered the windows of the downstairs unit, leaving the curtains and glass all around the pool. Inside Limon found the two elderly residents, who he said both suffered injuries. "They both went ot the burn center, which means they had enough burns to where it was a concern," said Heartland Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Bent Koch. San Diego Gas & Electric, El Cajon Police and several other agencies are investigating what caused the explosion. Limon told 10News his fire extinguisher was no accident. "I made a big deal to bring it," he said. "I'm glad I did, because if it weren't for this bad boy, God knows what would have happened."10News Reporter Rina Nakano shot a Facebook live explaining the scene. You can watch below:  1705

Due to the wildfires raging in Northern California, San Francisco, Stockton and Sacramento were the world's three "most polluted cities" on Friday morning, according to Berkeley Earth, a nonprofit that aggregates data from air-quality monitoring sites.PurpleAir, which has a network of sensors around the world, also showed that California had worse air than traditional smog hotspots in India and China.CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller confirmed that "no region on Earth had as many air quality stations in the highest ranges" of particulate matter, or PM, the toxic mixture of particles and droplets that worsens after wildfires. Those values, he said, "stretched for hundreds of miles over Northern and Central California, from the mountains to the valleys and the coast."Schools, colleges and public transit have closed as smoke from the Camp Fire descends on the region."It appears to be the worst air quality ever experienced in San Francisco," said Dan Jaffe, a professor of environmental chemistry at the University of Washington. He called the situation "an air quality emergency," and experts said the smoke could undo decades of progress on pollution."We have made tremendous efforts and investment to clean up our air with considerable benefits for public health," said Dr. Daniel Jacob, a professor of atmospheric chemistry and environmental engineering at Harvard University. "But now it's like we're getting stabbed in the back with those wildfires." 1472

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - The City of El Cajon is days away from unveiling their new million dollar animal shelter to the public and gave 10News a sneak peek on Tuesday. The new shelter is double the size of the current facility, which was built in the 1950's, and features state-of-the-art amenities. The city believes it will dramatically improve the adoption experience for East County residents."With more room comes more ability to provide the standard of care expected for these types of animals," said Dirk Epperson, Director of Public Works for the City of El Cajon. The facility has a medical center and operating room as well as a full-service grooming station. There will also be several 'get to know you rooms' where potential adopters can get one-on-one time with the animals.Epperson says efficiency is a theme in the new facility, making it easier and more environmentally-friendly for shelter employees to do their jobs. The grand opening is Saturday, June 2 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m and adoption fees will be offered for all animals. The shelters will be closed from Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1. However, special arrangements can be made for residents needing to drop off stray dogs or claim a pet.   1250
