TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTv) - A group of about 500 self proclaimed migrants from the caravan demanded more public restrooms and the Benito Juárez Stadium be reopened for them to sleep in Thursday.Before the planned press conference, a Honduran yelled at a French activist, calling him an infiltrator. The man defended himself, saying he was there trying to protect the community.Later during the press conference two men yelled at the group telling them to leave. She was born in Hungary and her family tried twice to escape.The first time, when she was two, she woke up and started crying, causing them to get caught. She said everything was taken from them. Gibboney said the second time they escaped, an aunt drugged her so she would sleep through the escape.They lived in Brazil for more than a decade and came to the U.S. via her father's Green Card. "My heart goes out to them, but this is not how you do it, because if you do have a legitimate refugee issue, you go to the port of entry, you go to the embassy in your state in your country," she said.Her feelings on border security solidified in 2002, when her son was shot and killed by a man she calls a coward, gangster and undocumented. (KGTV) — National Park Service biologists say they're seeing a boom in mountain lion births this summer in the Santa Monica Mountains and Simi Hills areas.Between May and August, researchers have seen 13 total kittens born to five mountain lion mothers. This is the first time this many mountain lion dens have been found in such a short time period during the 18-year study, according to the National Park Service. A total of 21 litters of kittens have been marked at the den site. Previously, the most dens found in one year for the study was four in 2015."This level of reproduction is a great thing to see, especially since half of our mountains burned almost two years ago during the Woolsey Fire," said Jeff Sikich, a wildlife biologist who has been studying the mountain lion population at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. "It will be interesting to see how these kittens use the landscape in the coming years and navigate the many challenges, both natural and human-caused, they will face as they grow older and disperse."Since 2002, NPS has been studying mountain lions around the Santa Monica Mountains to determine how they survive in a fragmented and urbanized environment.To track the mountain lions, researchers wait until the mother leaves to hunt or feed. While researchers are tracking her movements, other researchers will approach the den to catalog the kittens and place a unique tag on the ear of each animal. Thousands of youth sporting events were canceled this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.It's tough enough that kids are missing a whole season of baseball or soccer. But now, soccer moms and dads everywhere are growing frustrated.Many paid hundreds of dollars for their kids to participate in spring soccer leagues that ended up canceled, and refunds are turning out to be elusive. Some families paid over ,000 for two children to join private clubs.One weekend of play, 0 goneJulie Hooper is the mother of a third-grader who only got to play one weekend before the season was shut down."For the spring soccer league, we paid 5," she said.When parents called the head coaches after the cancellation, they did not get what they had hoped."We asked where our money is, and they are keeping all of it and told us we get a 10% discount if we sign up for next season," she said.Hooper said she would understand had they at least continued training, but there have been no tournaments, games or practices, and the club still has the parents' money."I've heard from other teams, other clubs, that they would get money back from tournaments not played," she said.Where is the money?But many clubs are not giving refunds. News reports and Facebook complaints show soccer parents nationwide are asking where the money has gone.Some teams say they prepaid for tournaments and are having problems getting those deposits back from larger sporting organizations. Others say much of the money went to field maintenance and insurance, and those funds are gone for good.Hooper said she doesn't expect a full refund, but "to pay 5 and get so little, it just seems like we should get something back.
