SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested by Border Patrol agents after they reportedly discovered drugs hidden inside her child’s car seat and stroller.Agents say they stopped a 2015 Nissan Sentra at an unspecified location along Interstate 15 on June 12 around 6:15 p.m. The vehicle was driven by a 26-year-old male US citizen. Two women and three minor children were also in the vehicle. After searching the vehicle using a K-9, agents found several packages of drugs wrapped in cellophane and hidden inside one of the children’s car seat and stroller. Border Patrol says a child was sitting in the car seat when the drugs were found. The 23 packages contained methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin valued at 1,680, the agency says. Agents later discovered that the drugs were hidden by one of the female passengers, a 26-year-old US citizen. The woman was arrested and turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office while the three minor children were released into the custody of their 32-year-old aunt. 1023

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A unique way to watch movies outdoors is coming to San Diego's waters.Floating Cinema is coming to San Diego on Sept. 2 - 6, organizers say. Tickets will go on sale here.The cinema will include 12 to 24 mini boats that can hold up to eight people per boat. Tickets will require individuals to purchase the entire boat to make sure groups are seated with friends and family only, and to allow for distancing between boats.Throughout the week, the cinema will screen a mix between golden oldies and new releases that will be announced when tickets go on sale. Popcorn will be offered for free, while other movie snacks and drinks will be made available for purchase.Ticket options and movie screening details will be released closer to the event. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A tow truck driver helped San Diego Police capture a man who the driver said was starting a fire Thursday along Interstate 15 in central San Diego.Police said the tow truck driver reported the man near the 15 and 94 freeways in Mount Hope about 1 p.m.Officers handcuffed the man and placed him inside a patrol car, but he managed to get out of his restraints. Police said he fought back and they removed him from the car to restrain him again.“The gentleman attempted to bite two of the officers on their hands as they were attempting to place him in the body wrap system,” said SDPD Sgt. Nathan Chambers.Arson investigators who responded to the fire scene found charred wood and grass. There was no evidence of a large fire.10News asked police if the man is connected to other recent fires in the area but officers said that has not been determined. That’s the claim in court records against Argosy University, which operates The Art Institute of California in San Diego. Court documents accuse the university of charges including changing submissions to the Department of Education to get student financial funds. Argosy University operates more than a dozen locations across the country, including the Art Institute of California in Mission Valley. The Department of Education sent millions of dollars to Argosy. The filing was made on behalf of a court-appointed receiver, the independent outside party to handle the university’s finances. 10News reported earlier that the Education Department stopped all financial aid to Argosy. In July of 2018, the Art Institute in Mission Valley stopped enrolling new students. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A small coffee shop in Carmel Mountain Ranch is now the world's best coffee roaster.Mostra Coffee just won Roast Magazine's top honor as the 2020 Roaster of the Year."It was a really far fetched, big dream of ours to one day achieve one day," said Mostra Coffee co-founder Jelynn Malone. "So the fact we were able to achieve it in six years is mind-blowing to us."Malone started the company with a few friends in a garage in 4S Ranch. They were looking for ways to help poor people in the Philippines and learned that buying coffee from local farmers can help provide money and jobs to the region."It was rooted in good and wanting to help," said Malone. "We just believed in our mission so much that we thought, you know, let's just go for it. What it's become now is just surreal and amazing."Right now, Mostra Coffee has one shop in Carmel Mountain Ranch, but they have plans to expand. They're opening a second location in 4S Ranch in March and just signed a lease for a spot in Mira Mesa.Malone said their passion for coffee is what's fueled their success."It's very similar to wine," she said. "It'll taste anywhere from peaches to chocolates, to tea leaf flavor notes to blueberry. There are so many different flavor notes you can get out of coffee that I don't think people realize, and you get to do that in specialty coffee."In addition to the new locations, Mostra is expanding into the instant coffee business. They just launched a line of single-serve instant coffee packs."Now you can enjoy Mostra coffee when you're flying or camping or at work or rushing in the morning and don't have time to come into the store," said Malone.Through all the expansion, Malone said they plan to keep the small-batch mentality that brought them this far."The community's been so supportive that I think people will really appreciate having more access to Mostra." 1889
