Phoenix police say a woman has died in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening. The incident happened near 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 7 p.m.Police say no officers were injured in the shooting.According to police, around 6:45 p.m. officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. As officers arrived, a woman reportedly ran out with an AR-15 style rifle and fired shots which prompted officers to return fire, hitting the woman.Police say the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. No further information was immediately available.  592

The CDC said on Thursday that an estimated 27,000 people were sickened, and eight died, from swimming-related diseases from 2000 to 2014 in hotel pools and hot tubs. According to CDC figures, 1 out of 3 swimming-related disease outbreaks originated from hotels. The CDC says that Cryptosporidium (also known as “Crypto”), Pseudomonas, and Legionella caused most of the outbreaks in swimming venues. Of the 27,000 people sickened, the majority had Crypto, which is a parasite tough enough to survive even in properly maintained pools.“Swallowing just a mouthful of water with Crypto in it can make otherwise healthy kids and adults sick for weeks with watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting,” said Michele Hlavsa, R.N., M.P.H., chief of CDC’s Healthy Swimming Program. “Chlorine cannot kill Crypto quickly. We need to keep it out of the water in the first place. Don’t go into the water, and don’t let your kids go into the water, if sick with diarrhea.”The CDC said if a pool, hot tub, or water playground is not cleaned properly, bacteria can grow and form a slime called biofilm on wet surfaces. Legionella and Pseudomonas can live in this biofilm. The CDC has offered the following tips to prevent getting sick while swimming:  1401

Police in North Carolina are searching for a suspect that allegedly robbed a boy's lemonade stand at gunpoint.The Charlotte Observer reports that a 9-year-old boy was selling lemonade in Monroe, a suburb of Charlotte, on Sunday afternoon. The boy was approached by a teenager wearing a camouflage hat and a black shirt.The teen stuck a handgun in the boy's stomach and demanded that he hand over the money he made. He fled the scene after receiving the money. The Observer reports that less than was stolen.WCNC-TV reports that a black BB gun, a camouflage cap and a metal tin were found in the woods near the scene. Police could not confirm that the items belonged to the suspect, but they say it seems likely.According to WCNC, the boy returned to selling lemonade soon after the incident. Passengers were able to travel on a Delta flight from the US to Europe without quarantining on Tuesday, assuming they passed three coronavirus tests.The flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam, the first between the two locales that does not require quarantine since the onset of the pandemic, required passengers to be negative from a PCR coronavirus test in the previous five days, and receive a negative result from a rapid coronavirus test at the airport the day of the flight. A second PCR test is then administered upon arrival, and passengers are not required to quarantine once receiving a negative result.Delta is also launching a similar program for flights between Atlanta and Rome this week. Passengers bound for Rome are required to take a PCR test within 72 of the flight in addition to being administered a rapid test at the airport.
